Post by Flatsman727 » Wed Mar 13, 2013 12:05 am

Hello, does anyone have any experiance with the OBC73M Omen rod from the new florida based rod company 13 and do any of you think it can handle casting the 5 inch 3/4 magic swimmer from sebile. Any info on this rod will be well appreciated.

The TT guys did a review on this very rod and seems to be the real deal.

I have the 7'1" M. I have thrown 1/2oz Redeye Shad, Shad Raps, SK #3 and #5's, and 3/8oz SK spinnerbaits on it with 20lb PP and a leader.

If that swimbait is a 3/4oz bait you may want the MH - but then again with less resistance you may be fine with the M.

There is some tip in my rod but not too much and the backbone is solid. I cannot believe anyone would be disappointed with the rod you are looking at - I'm just not sure if the MH would be better for that particular bait.

BTW, I have the 7'6" MH and it throws a Spro BBZ Shad and 5" hollow belly about perfectly - although I haven't fished it with a swimbait yet - just tested the feel.

Get the MH for throwing the 5" magic swimmer.

BTW, my next rod will be an Omen 7'1" MH for contact baits and bigger spinnerbaits.

I can't wait to throw a Biffle Head on these - the sensitivity is going to be awesome.

I've handled the rod and would probably bump up to a MH. Amazing rods at their price point.

I have that one, and the Envy 7'3mh was just messing around with both. I would go mh for those , the mh has a great tip will launch them out there. The m will handle but might be slightly taxed. In terms of quality you cant beat it at that price. I own two omens one envy and another of each on the way. I sold most of my powells and dobyns savvys to go to 13 fishing.
