what's your favorite casting rod for fishing blade baits
Looking to fish some blade baits this winter. Just wondering what type of rod n line to use? I'd prefer casting but if u think I'm better off with spin just say so. Also line and types of blades would be a great help! Thanks again!!

Popping blanks...depends on blade size, but generally I fish a spinning blank.
Lami XMG50 LP844 custom extended to 7'3", with 15lb braid, 3/8 - 1/2oz
Lami XMG50 SJ781 custom extended to 6'9" with 6lb Fireline for 1/8 - 1/4oz
Lami XMG50 LC862 built BC spiral with 15lb braid for 1/2 - 5/8oz
MHX CB 907 does well with braid and bigger 5/8oz - 1oz as does a 7'4" MH Zombie...both BC rods
I also mess around with lighter fluoro in 10lb on a Shikari SHX PP703.5 built BC sprial with 1/2 - 3/4oz...fun for smallies, trout and LM as the blank has good backbone, but has a very parabolic bend as to not overpower and rip out baits on fish with softer mouths.
Good luck

SC Legend Xtreme 7MF with 30lb braid and long 8-10ft flouro 10lb leader (fishing clear great lakes). I almost always am fishing a 1/2oz blade

I mostly throw a Binsky Vibrating Blade Bait in 1/2 oz for smallmouth. I use a Dobyns Champion 704 glass and a TDZ103. A soft rod helps keep the fish hooked. Schooling fish seem to hit the bait from all directions so sometimes the hook is in the mouth and sometimes it's outside the mouth. I like 10lb Sunline Sniper as I can feel a fish bump the bait when it's falling.

I recently try the abu garcia volatile rod, the 7 foot meduim power fast action, this is the best blade rod a ever fish . As for the line i go with 12 to 17 p-line cxx depending of the cover.

7'MHC Steez rod. I want back bone... I also use braid main line, and a 2' or so floro leader. I like uuummpphh in my set up for 2 reasons. One - your going to get stuck a lot and it helps you bend the hooks to get it back. Two - I catch a lot of big fish this way, and atleast once or twice a day I hook into a monster carp and I want to bring them in, our winter trophies lol.

I built myself a 6'6" med fast on a Northfork Comp SM blank last year or throwing bladebaits. Put a Steez 103HA with a hyperlong cast spool in it. It blade fishing magic, pure magic. I can feel the lightest walleye bites in 60 feet of water with it.
Re: what's your favorite casting rod for fishing blade baits
I'm a big fan of the Dobyns DX743c or Champion 734c for blade baits. I use 30lb daiwa samurai with a 8 to 10 lb leader of Sunline Super Sniper. I know that most guys like softer action rods or prefer spinning gear but I tend to go against that. I usually target Smallmouth once the water gets into the 40's and their lips/jaw tend to get harder to penetrate with treble hooks when water temps drop. I always upgrade the hooks on my blades to kvd's or owner's to help keep them hooked but I really feel the added sensitivity and backbone of a heavier action rod allows me to feel every bite but also lay into them on the hookset to keep them hooked in deep water. Hope that helps.
