I wouldn't mess with the 893, I have one I never use. I have the 894 and 895 and love them however. Not sure which I'd pick but I want to get another.

So, let me paint a picture.

Waited for Fedex to come to the office since Id know Id be there. They arrived early afternoon. I went out to the truck and the driver opened up the hatch, so Im all excited =D> ......I see the rod tube popped open about a foot or so up, resembling an open Crescent Roll/cinnamon roll tube. The driver said, I think it may be damaged. :|

We popped the end cap off of the rod tube and the handle was in a few pieces, looked like some nunchucks from a Bruce Lee Movie :crying:

So, he told me to refuse acceptance, while I snapped pics. Either way, the vendor will send me another one (894) when it comes in, but I asked for the blue instead if possible. I definitely wasn't feeling the green coloring once I saw it in person. Hopefully Ill have another rod within 2 weeks(my estimate).

I've ordered very few rods through the mail so I haven't pushed my luck to many times yet but so far so good. I really hate to see that happen to you, especially on a rod as expensive as the NRX. I suppose the silver lining here is you didn't like the green color nearly as much as you thought you would so now hopefully the blue one will be more to your liking and even more importantly, in one piece.

Sorry to hear of your problem. I hope it is resolved to your satisfaction. I wish Shimano Australia would bring in the green NRXs. Been told by rep. that they will only import the blue and my Curado 50E doesn't look right on them. :laugh1: :crying: :laugh1:

That sucks, been there done that! My a-hole ups guy left mine on the porch in that shape so I couldn't refuse it. The place I bought it from ended up sending me $50 to use the loomis expediter service cause a ups claim would take years to resolve.

I used my 894 and 895 the last couple of days fishing 20-30' deep brush piles. When fishing on the bottom that deep I really appreciate the length and power of these rods to get a good hook set. Absolutely love these rods.

Curious for input from you and others...does the 894 have the same level of stiffness as the 893?

The 894 is CONSIDERABLY more powerful than the 893. In my opinion, potentially more than what would be conceived as "one power." I was surprised, honestly, by its power. This is a good thing to me...The basis for this opinion may be the fact that I had the 854 and expected the 894 to be the same power, only longer...but to me, it is definitely more powerful than the 854, as well. Another point of reference is that the NRX has traditionally been somewhat less powerful than their GLX counterparts, in the JWR series....I believe this changes when you get to the 894. In my experience, the NRX 894 is more powerful than the GLX 894.
