Where can one order a JDM casting rod?

Post by Drew03cmc » Wed Sep 10, 2014 10:34 am

I'm looking for a short casting rod such as the older MB F2-57X and was wondering where one can find these types of rods.

Have you tried plat or cloudninetackle? I don't know if they carry the older stuff, but worth a shot.

It doesn't have to be that rod. I put that as a reference point. I am wanting a shorter rod for canoe fishing and floating tandem, as we often do, six footers are really too long.

Call Gary (Bronzefly) Wood at the Tackle Trap. He has info on rods that will fit your need and also a pretty extensive network to acquire older rods.

Click the banners above for contact info.

Best of luck. :)

To me, this sounds a lot like the Megabass Orochi X4 F2-54x4 Barchetta. It's a 5'4" fast action casting rod.

My understanding is that it's production is currently limited to 100 pieces. Not sure if a US dealer can help you secure one -- but the board's resident Megabass dealer could shed some light on that.

There's also a heavier 5'10" F6-510x4 Squall (based on the "Go Ten" rods - such as in the current Arms Challenge series) in the Orochi X4 lineup. I think that one will probably be easier to source, since it isn't a limited production rod.

That squall is a stout little beast.

You MAY find one around...but cheap it will not be.
