NRX MODEL 852S JWR

Has anyone used this particular NRX model? What's your over-all opinion of this rod? A local store is selling one for %40 off, I can purchase the rod for $315. I need something that will work for mostly jig & live bait fishing with 6-8 lb. mono. The rod is discontinued, that's why it's being sold off cheap.

hands down the best 1/4 oz jig, light trig spinning around, have not fished live bait on it but I use mine for mostly 1/4 jigs, wacky rigs, weightless presentations..at that sale price I do not believe you will find anything that could compete w the nrx 852s..

I kind of figured that. The only issue I have is I need to make sure it will fit my reel, i'll be pairing it with an older shimano sustain from the 90's and the stem is really short on those old reels.

Great all purpose spinning rod and you can't go wrong at that price. I do doubt that G Loomis is discontinuing that model as it has to be the most popular spinning rod they make. Maybe the store isn't carrying NRX, because of the price and I can't imagine they sell many.

What size sustain?
I have the same rod paired with a 2000 sized certate. My favorite spinning rod this far, super sensitive, and plenty of power. It as actually my preferred drop shot rod on the delta.

It's probably my favorite spinning rod ever. It's a real delight with small weightless plastics.

Thats what the clerk said, I allready bought a loomis bronze back for %40 off, here is a pic of the rod on sale.

Sustain 2000 F series from 1993. Most anglers wont remember this model. Besides the handle Its the same as the first gen stella F series in japan. It has a lot of sentimental value to me. The pic below compares the stem to a daiwa 2500, on the sustain the stem is really short at just a hair over 2 inches long.

just take your reel into the store with you next time, but at that price you cant pass that deal on the nrx..thats cheaper than what the rep samples were being sold at..buy it

Unfortunately they won't let me do that, but I think I'm just gonna buy it anyways I'll never forgive myself if I pass that deal up.

What?!? What kind of store won't let you put your reel on a rod? I've gone as far as not only taking my reel with me, but having a store employee go out with me in the grass to cast the rod with my reel on it.
