Phenix m1 8' hvy for big swimbaits with shimano calcutta b?

Post by Basscatcher99 » Tue Oct 21, 2014 6:53 am

I'm looking for a new hudd rod that is light weight so I can throw hudds up to 5 oz with less fatigue at the end of the day. I've heard great things about the phenix rods and I have the opportunity to get an 8 foot heavy m1 swimbait for around $160. Is this rod to light for huddlestons? I currently throw them on 20 lb flouro with a shimano calcutta 400b. Does the calcutta fit well in the reel seat of the m1 swimbait? Thanks!

Not to light! I've thrown hudd 16s with no issues. The rod itself is rated to 8oz. And that's a good price.

I'd go for it. That's an awesome combo. I've got a couple 80MH M1 Swimmers... LOVE THEM. Been throwing Umbrella rigs, S-Wavers, Hudd 68s, and 8" and smaller Triple Trouts. The 80H should be able to handle the 8" Hudds no problem.
