C-Rig Rod of Choice

Post by goldrod » Sun Jan 18, 2015 10:11 am

When you do what is your choice of rod that you use for C-rigs?
or when the bite is slow you supplement for your primary c-rig rod and use it to c-rig with?
Anyone c-rig on the west coast?

Donyns dx745. I usually use 3/4 or 1oz weights with this rod. For lighter c rig a lot of people use dx784c ml

NRX 873 CRR. Bought it as jig rod but do throw a C-rig on it occasionally as well.

NRX 873, without a doubt. Used it for Carolina rigs, jigs, Texas rigged brush hogs, Alabama rigs, chatter baits, but it is amazing for what it's meant for. Carolina rigs.

MB XX EMTF. I usually use 12lb mainline, 1/2oz weight, 10lb leader. It worked great last year. The length really helps with hooksets.

I'm a fan of longer rods for Carolina rigging. I like the Phenix Recon2 804! Makes a great small Swimbaits rod as well! The Caroline rig uses a sweep set to set the hook, so the longer rod takes up more line faster for better hook ups.

I've settled on my ALX Custom Dragger. It's a 7'4" heavy-fast. I have other rods that do it well, and some that are even more sensitive, the ALX just has the "it" factor for me. I like the way it feels.

Dobyns 764c flippin stick , works great with 3/4 to 1 1/2 oz weights , Doubles for light flippin and footballs , 10xd, burn big spinnerbaits and 5 or 6 inch swimbaits ,, Good tip, nice blend in the upper 1/3 and enough power to sweep the rod .. I wish I still had that rod .
