Shimano Zodias
Re: Shimano Zodias
Hi all,
I would buy The zodias for bass-finesse (especially weightless wacky), I can't decide between the 264-2L (3-10 gr.) or the 268-2ML (4-12 gr.), can you help me? Many thanks!

Re: Shimano Zodias
Weightless wacky, as in salt impregnated 4 to 6 inch senko type baits? 610ML is the rod but the 172M can do it as well. If you're throwing weightless finesse worms (trick worms, ect) then I'd opt for the light powered rod.

Re: Shimano Zodias
Anyone recommend a Zodias for jerkbaits? Vision 110's, Pointer 100's, etc. Was thinking the 6'10"M?
Re: Shimano Zodias
Zodias rods have pretty stiff tips so I'd use the 1610ML. I've got both a medium powered and medium light rods and the'res no way I'd use the medium rod for jerkbaits. That particular medium powered rod i(172M) is too stiff for jerkbaits and is better suited to bombing 1/2 ounce traps and 6 inch senkos.DChiWildcats wrote:Anyone recommend a Zodias for jerkbaits? Re: Shimano Zodias
Can someone tell me more about the 1610ML-2?
I'm looking to replace my 6'6" ML St Croix Legend Elite spinning rod for a baitcasting rod. I mainly use it for 1/8th ball jigheads and 2" plastic trailer. It's my smallmouth, walleye, and white bass slayer. The Legend Elite is perfect in every way but I just want a comparable baitcasting rod to play with.
Thanks.

Re: Shimano Zodias
I have found that ML casting rods and ML spinning rods have very different powers with the exception being ML casting rods made from a ML spinning rod blank. For example I have ML spinning rods that are softer than L powered BFS casting rod such as a Majorcraft Volkey BFS. The Zodias 1610ML I have is not something I like to throw an 1/8oz jig head + small plastics on. The rod rated low limit is 3/16 oz making the rod excellent at 1/4-3/8 oz. For 1/8oz jighead + small plastic, I use a Mojorcraft Volkey BFS 68L 2 piece. If you would like a Zodias for that application I would recommend the L powered rod in 2 piece for it's regular fast taper lower shipping costs, because you will have to buy this rod from Japanibobpeb wrote:Can someone tell me more about the 1610ML-2?

Re: Shimano Zodias
You make a great point. Thank you for offering your perspective. L power casting rod is probably what I'm looking for then. Since you brought that up, something else came to mind. My ML Spinning Legend Elite is a fast tip and that's what I love about it for bottom contact. From what I've read on the Zodias casting rod, it's more of a moderate fast. Hmmm. I will get that L powered Zodias and see!LowRange wrote:I have found that ML casting rods and ML spinning rods have very different powers with the exception being ML casting rods made from a ML spinning rod blank. Re: Shimano Zodias
After checking out the rod on Plat, both the one piece 168L-BFS and 2 piece 168L-BFS/2, have tapers of 'FF' indicating extra fast.
