maybe i'm in the minority but i think it's gorgeous. only complaint would be the hook keeper on the trigger

not sure if this can be answered yet but my past expreriences have told me that phenix rods tend to fish on the lighter side of their rating so if that still holds true, does that mean the 7'1 MH is actually a M? same question with the 7'6H

I can't directly answer your question, but I have a custom ml and it fishes within its ratings. If anything it fishes closer to a medium imo as the top end rating is 5/8. If anything I would say these fish closer to what they are labeled unlike the Recon series which does fish on the lighter side of its ratings. Maybe somebody else can chime in on the mh and heavy.

yea the umbx were def under powered as well but i'm hoping the k2s r true to ratings. would've been nice to c the 7'3H in this lineup but i guess they wanna c how well these r received before bringing more to market

My ml 713 feels about right but then the 714 and 765 are atleast like a half power lighter then most rod brands. The 736 is an stout rod tho.

Is the first guide backward or is there a reason for it looking like that?

I noticed that too. They must have been inspired by the old Megabass Aaron Martens drop shot rod.

The first guide is set the recommended way by Fuji for the KR Concept. We had it the traditional way on the K2 prototypes at iCast and Fuji came by and corrected it. I got to admit, the traditional way looked funky because the two span feet of the frame are narrow and long.

Wait for the holidays to pass and the sales. I doubt many people will buy until then.

I bought the K2 714 (7'1" MH) a couple of months ago. I don't consider this a 4 power rod when compared to my NRX 894 or ZBone LEXF4. I bought this rod for 1/2 oz. jigs but, it is too whippy for my taste. I use it for chatterbaits now, which it does pretty well with.

I will say, that this is probably the best looking rod I have. I just wish it was a true 4 power.

sweet. got a few questions for ya. how's the sensitvity compared to the zbone & nrx? phenix is known for being underpowered so no sweatin that. how's the taper? too slow, too fast or just right? lastly, where's the balancing pt with what reel? sry for all the questions
