So what the ideal material for fishing rods?
I'm confused as does the material in a fishing rod make a big difference in fishing.
Ok sure carbon is light but Fiberglass is also light and glass more flexible.
What Do you more experience rod experts have to say?

Re: Fishing rod materials
yea the material and also components like real seats and guides can have a big affect on the action, balance, and sensitivity of the rod. graphite/carbon is lighter and more sensitive as a general rule than glass or glass/graphite composite rods. as a general rule it is also stiffer with a much faster action and is used mostly for bottom contact and single hook lures. the sensitivity helps you feel the bite and the stiffness helps get a good hookset. glass rods are slower in action and have more give. they usually are heavier and less sensitive than graphite. they are mostly used for crankshaft and other treble hook bait, but some like them for any moving reaction type bait. there are also composite rods that are kind of in between the other two. some people prefer these over straight fiberglass rods because they are blended with graphite and are usually a little more sensitive and faster in action
