Looks really good! Does it still have alconite inserts?
Re: Dobyns Champion Extreme HP video = new DX rods
he said 46 ton toray...interesting...that would put it in the k2 category
Re: Dobyns Champion Extreme HP video = new DX rods

I'm debating on whether some of my DX rods "need" to be replaced...

I swear, my 745 was just sitting there, and all of a sudden it broke by itself. I guess I need to replace it.pharmboy2010 wrote:I'm debating on whether some of my DX rods "need" to be replaced...

I thought I was actually hearing things, guess not. If it uses the same blank as the k2 for the mid $300 price, nothing out there can touch it. I'm going to have to do investigating on this. That would put it way above the regular extremes & glx. And in the category with nrx,k2 & zbone for ALOT lessChode wrote:he said 46 ton toray...interesting...that would put it in the k2 category

Well, let's just find out. I have a the DX743HP on it's way. Should have it Friday, I hope. The best part is the AFLAC duck paid for it.

There is much more than the graphite material designation that goes into the quality of a blank. Remember the modulus wars?Hennessy wrote:I thought I was actually hearing things, guess not. Scrim, resin, manufacture process etc. Not saying it will be bad built on 46t Toray, just saying that it doesn't mean it is the same. It could be just as good, but it won't just be because of the material.

I'm in the market for either an NRX804 or another 683DX. Hummmmm
Re: Dobyns Champion Extreme HP video = new DX rods
Got it yesterday afternoon. I went with the split grip on this one which is out of my norm, I like full rear grips. The new handle design is longer and contoured and fits my large hand so much better. This series is not a cosmetic makeover, trust me on that. The blank is very different that my other Extremes. The action is the usual Dobyns with a nice progressive taper and early lock up and the balance is spot on. Sorry no photo. I paired it with a Lew's T-Pro and the balance point is smack dab in the middle of the lock nut. Very neutral in the hand. The fit and finish is absolutely outstanding. It's a looker too. The quality of the cork on my rod is a 98/100. I'll get it on the water Tuesday for a real world test. The blank feels a bit more crisp if that's a reasonable descriptor.
