Tatula Drop Shot Finesse Spinning Rod
Tatula Drop Shot Finesse Spinning Rod
Does anyone own the Tatula (6’3” or 6’11”) Drop Shot Finesse Spinning Rod? Besides the obvious, I’m also interested in using it for hair jigs and wanted to hear your experiences. Would you say it leans on the noodly or beefy side? How is the backbone? Thanks in advance.

It will cast the light stuff but the tip is super quick. The backbone is pretty stiff. Its super light and well balanced. I'm talking about the 6'11

I have the 6'11" and agree with the above post. Tip is very light and quick, then gets into backbone pretty quickly. I use mine for Texas rigged/weedless dropshot a for fishing more around weeds and have a softer overall Rod for standard exposed hook dropshot fishing. Very good balance on the tatula, 2500 daiwa ballistic on mine and balances about an inch above where the reels arm is.

the 6'11" is very light at 3.7 ounces. but, keep in mind that it has a solid, megatop-style tip which is extremely thin and flexible (but also fragile). i only liked it for vertical dropshotting but YMMW.
Re: Tatula Drop Shot Finesse Spinning Rod
I have two of the 6'11" and really like them. I would disagree with 21Farms. I have the Steez Megatop and prefer the tip on the Tatula. I don't think it is as thin as the Megatop. I have one paired with a Baliistic 2000 and the other with a Sol 2000. I use them on everything from small soft jerkbaits, dropshot, finesse jigs, Ned Rig and small senko style baits.
Re: Tatula Drop Shot Finesse Spinning Rod
I have a 7'1" ML tatula I use for dropshot and I love it.
Excellent tip and good backbone.
If i needed another finesse spinning rod I wouldn't hesitate to get the 6'11" tat

Thanks for your responses. If the tip is as light and quick as suggested can I assume it wouldn't be suitable for anything (hair jigs in particular) other than DS applications?

I think it is more of a "one-trick pony". I wish it had less backbone though.
Re: Tatula Drop Shot Finesse Spinning Rod
I really like the 7'1" for throwing small soft jerkbaits on busting fish.
As I stated earlier in this post regarding the 6'11":
I use them on everything from small soft jerkbaits, dropshot, finesse jigs, Ned Rig and small senko style baits.
