Finesse for smallmouth is 80% of what I do
MEGABASS 2015 HEDGEHOG EVOLUTION - F4ST-69RSDTI with Stella 2500
Shimano/Jackall Poison Ultima 7'0M with Metanium MGL

oh man, that's a tough one. i guess it'd be:
● NRX 852S + shimano stella 2500 (i actually prefer daiwa when it comes to spinning
reels but just looking at the lines of the current stella sets my heart all aflutter)
● NRX 893C or 894C + shimano metanium
● NRX 852S + shimano stella 2500 (i actually prefer daiwa when it comes to spinning
reels but just looking at the lines of the current stella sets my heart all aflutter)
● NRX 893C or 894C + shimano metanium

I'm a little confused. List the two setups to cover as much techniques as possible or the two setup that would cover your style of fishing? I might want to change my answer then.

If I had to pick only 2 of my own setups to cover everything I use, I would choose my:
NRX 842S with Stella FI 3000HGM
and
Megabass Orochi XX spinnerbait special with Shimano Metanium HG
NRX 842S with Stella FI 3000HGM
and
Megabass Orochi XX spinnerbait special with Shimano Metanium HG

Without looking actual rod blank models, my pairing would look like this:
6'10" MLXF NFC blank with spiraled macro guides and a 2500 Stella of some sort.
7'4" MHF NFC blank with spiraled macro guides and a Steez LTD.

1. Daiwa Steez SV TW BFS Custom w/ Custom Samurai rods BFS Rod 2-6lb
2. Daiwa Exist Morethan Hyper Custom w/ Custom Samurai ML Spin rod 4-12lb

Great topic!
I would have to go with:
1.) Nrx 852c with JDM 2013 Metanium HG as my spinnerbait, crankbaits and other heavier baits.
2.) Shimano Jackal Poison Adrena 6'6" with 2016 JDM Aldebaran BFS XG for finesse and Jigging.
Would love the opportunity to throw in a Heavy frog combo.

so by the responses it is very clear that the NRX is by far the most preferred rod currently produced.
what is interesting is the reels are much more varied....

Very difficult question......for now I would go with:
MB F5-76 Nautilus - Core100mg7
Shimano Cumulus 610mh - Core 50mg7
Two extremely versatile and sensitive rods.
Honorable mention:
Loomis NRX 843mbr
MB F6-72x4 Destruction

Re: if you could have only 2 rod+reels. which would it be?
I would go old school with the reels. Both would be the Shimano Calcutta TE100gt and TE200gt matched with cumara rods.
Re: if you could have only 2 rod+reels. which would it be?
822s SYR, '14 Stella 2500hgs
843c MBR, '15 Alebaran 51hg
It was a toss up between the 843 and the 893.

I like this combo lol. Is the 7'0M a crankbait rod?
