If you could only have 2 rod/reel combos, to cover all the bases from squarebills, jerkbaits, jigs, to soft plastics 4-6" worms, texas rigged wacky rigged shakey heads , drop shot. etc.
Which 2 would you pick? Could be combination of a spin combo + casting combo, or both casting combos, both spin combos.
Lets see what everyone comes up with for a perfect duo

Lol well you didn't put a price limit so :
NRX 843 with Steez SV 103 (jdm)
NRX 852 with Twin Power 2500 for finesse apps
If you would have given me three I could have thrown in a frog/heavy flip rod

Tough to do with 2 setups when you're reaching to punch 1oz + weights all the way down go semi finesse weights. I think the X7EM is probably the most versatile rod I've used. If there was 3 rods it would be one. So with only two then.......
X7 Super Eiger + PXR
X7 Aaron Martens + Zillion R

I do a lot of fishing from tight areas and prefer a shorter rod. I am lucky enough to own one of my two dream combos...maybe one day I will have the other.
NRX 803C - Metanium
NRX 802S - Stella 2500S

Tough one...
852c and Conquest 101HG
872s and Stella 3000xg
I like the extra length of the 872s, It would cover all my finesse techniques.
The 852c would take care of all my reaction baits, spinner baits, and jigs.
852c and Conquest 101HG
872s and Stella 3000xg
I like the extra length of the 872s, It would cover all my finesse techniques.
The 852c would take care of all my reaction baits, spinner baits, and jigs.

I was going back and forth between the NRX 852c and 843 on the casting side...Either way I like your choices.zodiak311 wrote:Tough one...

Really want to try the 872! Love my 852s

HAhaha cool topic, like seeing everyones favourite 2. I guess NRX is game over lol must be that good of a rod if 95% of you guys will take 2 over anything else
Re: if you could have only 2 rod+reels. which would it be?
Sorry but I can't buy just 2 combos. Being a multi-species angler I need at least 5! 9 to 10 feet rods for pier fishing is a must... then bass fishing and ice fishing...

Thanks! I felt that the Stella just balanced out better on an 872s.trent_s wrote:I was going back and forth between the NRX 852c and 843 on the casting side...Either way I like your choices.zodiak311 wrote:Tough one...

As you know the 852c is much more powerful than its rating, but yet has a taper that can handle those reaction techniques. One of my favorite rods. I am sure the 852s is super sensitive!

multi species fishing is an addiction that really lends to bad tackle buying habits.ibobpeb wrote:Sorry but I can't buy just 2 combos. Being a multi-species angler I need at least 5! 9 to 10 feet rods for pier fishing is a must... then bass fishing and ice fishing...
At least five is what I wish I could go with.
Instead I'm up to about 47 rod/reel combo's.

oh, to answer your question, if I could only take two rod/reel combo's I own, I'd go with:

NRX 893c / Calais CL201DC
