NRX 843
Thinking I need this rod in my life
For those who own it, how much do you love it?
Does it work awesome for all purpose rod?
What do you use it most for?
How much more powerful does it feel vs the 852?
Sorry for all the question and thanks.
I'm either going to throw my CQ 101hg on it or my Metanium 13

You do need this rod in your life.
Absolutely love it, everybody needs at least one of these.
swim jig, little dipper paddletail, bigger squarebills, traps, texas rigs, I have yet to try but people love this rod for chatterbaits
To me the 843 is a power heavier than the 852 which I also have.
I have a Aldebaran Mg7 on mine.
To me, the 843 does not do everything but it sure does do a lot well.

Re: NRX 843
I also have both rods. The NRX 843C is a very versatile rod, works great for 3/8oz Z-Man Chatterbaits too. When it hits the backbone you will notice it is quite a bit stiffer than the NRX 852C - but in a good way, not a heavy rated stiff. To stiff for Bluegill/Perch were the NRX 852C is better, but it's perfect for Bass. Like you, I am using a Metanium 13 it and either 8lb. or 10lb. fluorocarbon line.
Buy it, you won't regret it.

Re: NRX 843
Do yourself a favor and buy one, I love mine. It does cover a lot of techniques very well and is extremely sensitive - I would say on par with the 893C. For me it excels for swim jigs, spinnerbaits, and other various moving baits but honestly it also performs very well when using plastics/small jigs. The taper is definitely a bit slower than the 852/853 which IMO makes the rod more versatile. I don't think you will be disappointed with this rod.
Re: NRX 843
I use mine mostly for moving baits excluding cranks. I agree it's an excellent swimjig rod. It's very versatile and would be my choice if I could carry only one rod to the pond. Wouldn't hesitate to use it for bottom contact, either.
Re: NRX 843
what has been posted about the NRX 843 is exactly what I use my old MBR 843 GLX for. all my NRX rods have 13Mets on them. The old 843 GLX I use a CI4 with but I think if you go with NRX you need; actually you require the 13met HG; and a handle upgrade to the XG length Sorry but this is a costly rod to buy because it comes with reel expectations
Re: NRX 843
guys- since we are among friends, try a chatter frog rig. the only place I know to find them is on ebay. These rigs don't catch me many bass but in March and April they deliver to me almost all my +5lb bass. in fact, I only catch 1 or 2 dinks a year on this rig. Since it is still april, the chatter frog is on my 843. while listed as 3/8oz this must be a joke. total rig weight is well more then 1/2oz and likely approaches 3/4oz. burn this thing with periodic stops. fish will hit on the stop roughly 50% of the time. A trailer hook if you are not around grass suggested. Use braided line as the big girl may rap you around fallen timber. what I am telling you here may deliver your best fish of the year. Yes, we do catch fish and just not collect tackle
Re: NRX 843
I pulled the trigger on one from monster...it was hard to say no at $367.50.
Re: NRX 843
I got an 842 recently for fishing 1/4-3/8 oz paddle tails and curl tails in my local bays. Target fish is spotted bay bass where a 2lb model is a large catch, but they are pound for pound much scrappier than a largemouth. I rarely fish near any significant structure, so I saw no need for the 843. The 842 is absolutely perfect for me and the only mistake I made was not purchasing it years ago. If I had bought the rod for freshwater, I would've gone with the 843 to give me a bit more power to move fish away from structure and keep them away. I might pick up an 843 anyway just because I like the 842 so much. If they are still available for 25% off on Monster, I would strongly advise getting the rod.

Re: NRX 843
I got a NRX 852 casting and spinning, so a 842 is to close to the same specs to purchase, for now at least
but the 843 will be ordered very soon I'm thinking...

You can find them on Outdoorproshop for 25% off through the "best price" option." Also, I think the Tackletrap had one in their demo section.H8R wrote:Where are they onsale at?oops wrote:If the 25% off sale ends before you buy it, you will regret itBRONZEBACK32 wrote:I got a NRX 852 casting and spinning, so a 842 is to close to the same specs to purchase, for now at least

I just ordered mine today from Monster, I also had a $25 off any $200 purchase
Tackletrap also has a good deal, and great to work with.

Re: NRX 843
I just got a notice from monster that the rod will ship directly from Gloomis, has anyone had this happen before?
If so does it take longer to receive the rod?
