Re: Tatula rod
All I can say is that Tatulas are hard to beat. Got 6 different models and each one is top notch in terms of construction and performance for their respective techniques. I really don't think you'll be at all disappointed with that heavy pitching rod. Don't have that one, though. I use the flippin stick for that.
Re: Tatula rod

I have a 7'1" medium xf on the way too. Are there any particular techniques that it shines at?

Re: Tatula rod
I bought a Zillion 7'7" medium power regular action rod this winter. Not only is it a great lipless rod. Awesome for Keitech swimbaits. I think the regular action helps them eat it before I pull the hook away from them.

Re: Tatula rod
Much to my surprise I found these rods locally. They sure feel good in hand
Loved the old steez rods, these seem better.
I think I am going to start with the 7'1" mh, felt great on the shop floor.

I have the 761HFB, 711MHRB, 6101MHFB, 6101MXB, 771MRB-G, & 721MHRB-G. I haven't had any quality issues whatsoever despite a couple of them being accidently knocked around pretty good. I just got the med ex fast, so I haven't had much time with it. I like the way it casts and pitches and there was no mistaking the couple of nibbles I got, so the sensitivity is there as it is with every other rod in the line, glass included. And that sweet megatop spliced onto that stiff medium backbone is going to make for some interesting battles.
I'd like the 701MRB for close quarters cranking, the 711MHXB for jigs on fluoro, and to see what the 741HFB frog stick is all about. I've seriously considered the 721HFB for jigs, but since the business end is only 1.75" shorter that the flip stick, I don't know if it'd be worth it. Anyway, I love these rods.

Re: Tatula rod
Yeah, they don't actually call it that, but it seems very similar to the steez with the same length and ratings. It's the lightest and best balanced (balances with SS SV) of the tatulas I've held and has the thinnest blank. It has the same alconite guides as all the other models, but the top two and tip on the solid part of the blank are micros. The tip itself is about 7-8" long and there is about 3" of thread wrap at the splice. It's is ultra flexible and buttery soft and gives way to the backbone easily. It's very thin, which makes it look fragile, you just have to remind yourself it's solid. Admittedly, it's not the longest caster, but it's not designed to be. It pitches finesse jigs and worms rigged wacky vary accurately and you get great bait placement with roll casts. It's very sensitive, especially to nibbles. The slightest pull and that tip telegraphs it straight to your hands. I'm used to letting flick shakes get taken for a ride before setting the hook, but I may have to change my strategy a bit, which should eliminate that occasional gut hook. Just speculation at this point, but I'm going to put it through the paces tomorrow with a spankin new alphas sv. Then maybe this weekend I'll get a chance to take the boat out and see how it drop shots. I've got a vision 110 with this rod's name on it, too. It's definitely the most interesting rod I've ever fished.
