Anyone find "The One"?
Anyone find "The One"?
In my years here at tt, I've always been searching for "The One." That's the whole reason I started building my own rods. I wanted better balanced rods, better hook keepers, ect.. Anyways, the only rod I'd even consider "the one" would be my Custom K2 764M for senkos and ikas. I haven't found "the one" for other techniques yet.
But shout-out to my Custom 843 and 844 GLX's (for lasting all these years) and surprisingly, my Irod Genesis II Stone Cold Swim/Vibrating Jig for big swimjigs (but it just doesn't have that bling factor lol).
Wondering what everyone else's "one" are?

Re: Anyone find "The One"?
After years of slowly moving up the ladder, i found megabass and jackall rods to work the best for me. If i had to pick one rod id say it would be between the eiger northwall and super eiger.
Even better, if mb used the enw taper, x7 blank and reelseat it would be a winner.
Im also at that point of building my own rods so i get exactly what i want...

Re: Anyone find "The One"?
Found "the one" for baits between 1/8 - 1/4 oz total lure weight, rod wise. Reel is another issue, as are other heavier techs
Re: Anyone find "The One"?
I'm always looking for "the one" for each application. Lol. That said, the 2016 Shimano Aldebaran 62L BFS is as close to "the one" as I have found! Amazing stick for its intended use. Paired with the 16 Aldebaran BFS XG its magic!

Re: Anyone find "The One"?
I don't know if it's the one, but my Phenix Recon(gen 1) 764 is amazing with 1/2oz spinnerbaits. It does everything else for me in the 1/2oz range as well, but really shines with spinnerbaits IMO.

Custom built St Croix Legend Elite 7' MH. Use it for anything except very light lures.

Re: Anyone find "The One"?
Well I believe my custom 683ml Phenix K2 to be the one for throwing 4.8 and 5.8 Flick Shakes on 1/8 Oz wacky heads. The one for me anyways. The power and action is spot on, and the blank detects any sort of take or strike impressively.
I'm going to attempt to have the one built soon for small paddle tail swimbaits. These are the two techniques I find myself employing most often.

Re: Anyone find "The One"?
My search for the "One" leads me to look for a rod that I could throw any technique that I could possibly need in a day of inshore or bass fishing. 2 rods stick out as being good at everything and they are both known to be very versatile.
For inshore use, my NRX 842 is head and shoulders about the rest. 1/2oz topwater, 1/4-1/2oz Jerkbaits, 1/8-1/2oz jigs and small paddletails, 1/8oz Gama swimbaits hooks with flukes, 1/4-1/2oz cranks, 1/4-3/8oz spinnerbaits all work very well for me on this rod for big reds and trout.
Freshwater use usually leads me to my NRX 843's. This rod can handle all single hook and treble baits in the 1/4-3/4oz range easily. Topwater, spinnerbaits, jigs, cranks, chatterbaits, buzzbaits, t-rigs have all fished great on this rod. Rarely throw anything heavier than 3/4oz unless punching, so this covers a lot of my techniques.

NRX 843 right now, though I'm after a couple rods that may "destroy" my current opinion.

MB X7 Super Eiger for 4" Senkos, light Texas and Jighead rigs. It's a pleasure to fish with everytime I pick it up.

Re: Anyone find "The One"?
Had a few customs built that are great rods with all the JDM look but with a smaller price tag.
Shimano Cumulus 6"10 MH casting rod. Still the lightest rod I have used to date at 3 ounces
NRX 873 - Just a great rod with great feel.
I have sold off most of the rods I felt didn't have the "it factor" Right now I have about 15 casting and 8 spinning setups for bass. They all have at least some "it factor" ... whether it be price, looks, feel, etc.

Re: Anyone find "The One"?
Many rods may be "The One" for one application some can double or triple their duty.
But if i where to have only one rod it be the NRX852S

Re: Anyone find "The One"?
"The One" to me meant a fantastically versatile rod that was the one rod for almost everything. The closest thing I have to that definition of "The One" is my Megabass Seven Eleven Destroyer. From deep diving crankbait, buzzbait, pitching stick, frogging stick, spinnerbait rod, swim baits both paddle tail up to 2oz hard plastic, football jig rod, swing head jig rod, and finally as T-rigged plastics rod of all of which it does with a high degree of competency. From almost everything bottom contact to almost everything moving bait 1/4 to 2 ounce it does well although it's not truly great at any of it. It's not much of a punching stick either and it is very poorly balanced and quite tip heavy meaning that it's not something I like to toss with one arm roll casting but it will pitch with roll casting like distances.

Nrx is my "the one"
