save up some more cash and just get a quality rod, NRX maybe a bit out of your reach but a semi used GLX even the old green ones are a blast to fish. They also holdup their value, buy once cry once...

just my .02

I'd go with a Tatula form your list.

Going off that list I would vote for "Diana's" Tatula

I vote Tatula too. What weights are you talking and what kind of cover?

The Powell 3d's can be had for well less the $150 and are excellent. For the ones I own/fish, you need to go to a NRX to get a noticeable improvement imo. I can't speak a good word or negative word about any other rod listed. I would ask who would comment that the next step up is an NRX :?:

No one seems to know what a Powell rod is yet they have been putting out nice bass rods since 2006 and rods for well over 100 years.

Hammer Rods, no doubt for me. With the "TT10" discount they're very close to the $150 mark.

"Diana's" Tatula and it's not even close with most of those on the list. Not to mention you can find them for closer to $110 right now at a few places.

Based on talking with Gary, I picked up the 6'9 H. I wanted something under 7' for close quarters pitching and this thing fits the bill perfect. Crazy light (3.4oz) and very good balance and sensitivity. Also didn't hurt that I got a couple in the 5lb range the first time I used it :) Very pleased, my only regret is that I didn't get 2 right away. This is definitely a sleeper. Dan

I'm definitely thinking about trying one or two of those hammer rods. What weight ranges are you throwing on that rod? I'm needing something to throw mainly single hook reaction baits like spinnerbaits and buzz baits with the occasional Texas rig and maybe even a few lipless or squarebills. From the way I've heard the rods described they sound like they have a multipurpose taper almost like a Loomis mbr. I throw weights from 1/4-3/4 the most and already have a rod for heavy stuff. Should I look at the medium and medium heavy?

timsford,

I haven't thrown any moving baits on it, just 1/4-1/2 oz jigs and t-rigs. It's a more moderate fast action and not a broomstick, so I would think that either the MH or H action would work for you. You might ask Gary, I'm sure he can better answer. Dan
