Looking for a rod for Spinnerbaits and small swimbaits
Hi all,
once again I am looking for the great feedback from this community for an upcoming purchase!
I am looking to get a Rod (that I would pair with a Daiwa Zillion SV TWS) that would be allocated for Spinnerbaits (up to 3/4oz) and smaller swimbaits (up to 1oz).
I am planning to purchase the rod during the Black Friday period. My price range is up to 300 USD.
Requirements for the rod;
* Good casting (distance wise)
* Light
* Robust
* good warranty
Right now a candidate is the Orochi XX Casting Rod 7'2" Swingfire
or Orochi XX Casting Rod 7'2" Diablo Spec R
Would be great to get some suggestions here!
THanks!
Cheers!

I use a Dobyns Champion 734C for what you just mentioned; the rod takes a huge beating...it's the one rod that I really treat like crap and has never failed me.

I'd be looking at a Dobyn's or Powell. A Powell 3D 714 would likely fit the bill well. I use an older generation of this rod called the Powell Paddletail rod and it is excellent for heavy spinnerbaits and swimbaits in the range you list. Very soft tip and I can throw the rigs about as far as I could with a 8ft rod.

Those are both good rod companies. I use a Powell Max 733 for spinnerbaits and small swimbaits, too. It is a fast action, so it casts anything from 3/8 oz to 1 1/4 oz really well, and accurately. I can roll cast a 1/2 oz spinnerbait into a small hole, no problem.DavidSA wrote:I'd be looking at a Dobyn's or Powell. A Powell 3D 714 would likely fit the bill well.
