Jackall poison Adrena 7'4 XH question

Post by frankdi » Sun Jan 01, 2017 2:36 am

Just ordered one of these rods although I really didn't need it. Anyone have a 7'4 XH rod they can tell me about? It's rated 1-4 oz. can't find any info on its specified uses but thinking it's more of a swimbait rod perhaps. Do you think it would work for a spro king daddy frog rod in heavy cover? How's the tip? What do you use it for and what do you think it could be used for. Thanks and happy new year.

According the japanese Shimano fishing site, it is a dedicated swimbait rod with a regular taper able to throw 100 grs + baits, its full identification code is 174 XH-SB, SB is for swim baits.

Throwing/walking frogs with a regular action swimbait rod.... not for me, I prefer by far a fast action rod but everyone has different tastes.

Could you do a review of the rod once you will have received it? Its specs intrigate me, especially its weight/power ratio.

Might be a decent punch rod. I prefer a longer rod for it but for the sale price, it's a good deal

Lafeyette, thanks for the info. I can give you a brief idea on how it feels but unfortunately won't be able to use it for awhile since I live in Canada and we are frozen here. Being a swimbait rod is ok as I do throw some. You never know with these rods until you get them in your hands.

You are right, always a bit tricky to buy a rod without holding it.

I just ordered the same one this morning because the price is too good to resist. I'm hoping for regular action as i don't want it to be a broom stick. Unfortunately, I won't be able to use it for another 3 months.

Same here. Don't want it to be a broom stick. Doesn't seem to be anyone that uses one on here yet.

I'll let you know if it's a broomstick or not since I paid for 2 day shipping.

Mine should be coming in tomorrow. This rod is by far the best deal twh 25 days of deals has offered. Otherwise it was crap. I'll be tossing around 2oz baits like the gancraft 178 jointed claw, and a deep diving jerkbait-duo realis fangbait

I have the rod. It is a big swimbait rod. Has a extended handle. Works great for 1 oz plus swimbaits and Alabama rigs. However I must admit I find myself flipping with it quite a bit. I really like it for 5/8to 1oz football jigs dragging around rocks. I see tackle warehouse has a amazing sale on these. Get one, you won't be disappointed

This rod is sickkk!!! I'm a huge fan of the poison adrena line and the swimbait rod does not dissapoint. I feel as though it may be a med-fast or fast action rod. It can handle up to 3.5 oz fine. It would be good for frogging and punching as well. Versatile rods, these adrena rods!

Although I don't know how to extend the handle as someone mentioned?

I think they meant the handle is longer when they said extended. Most swimbait rods have longer handles than other rods of the same length.

OK, so my rod arrived today. It is definitely not a broomstick. More of a moderate fast action, similar to my Phase 3 Record Breaker with a little bit less tip and a tad bit more power. This Adrena rod is exactly what I was looking for. I can see using it for 3/4 to 1 oz jigs with trailer and smaller swimbaits. It'll be awhile before the ice melts so I can't really tell how it will fish yet. Totally badass for the TW sale price. Glad I pulled the trigger before it ran out.
