I don't understand Enigma Rods

Post by Finnz922 » Sat Jan 14, 2017 4:59 am

How are Enigma Rods already on Aaron's Edge Generation 4 already? Is there anything different about the rods other than the price keeps getting lower and lower every 6 months?

I don't have any problems with them or anything like that, I am just curious.

That's why the rods are named Enigma.

Personally,I think their biggest problem is that they are possibly the ugliest rods ever made. Even the microwave guides are hideous. Some people like crazy colors like they have, but most people will be turned off by them. Heck, it was a couple years before I came around to liking the TD Ito.

The kiwi's in Aus would love them, they'd match their high visibility clothing they're so well known to wear near 100% of the time, and even to formal events.

The Gen 1 Enigma Drop Shot spinning rod was too tip heavy to appeal to me. Perhaps they have moved to a lighter blank?

Nobody knows what is changing on any of their rods?

I don't own any but would have no problem fishing with rods AM uses to win AOY. My guess is he is having them make small tweaks each season to suit his liking? At least the price isn't going up.

Got to borrow a 7’ MH and all I have to say is I simply cannot believe he likes these more than the XX rods. It was so heavy and balanced horribly!! Are these really what he’s using?? Not sure what generation it was, but it was one of the light grey ones. I see the new ones are a darker color. Hopefully they’re at least better balanced.

Honestly, I think it had nothing to do with Martin liking them over the XX series. Enigma either paid more or MB didn't want to carry the sponsor tag on him any longer.

It all comes down to money.

I like Aaron Martins but going to Enigma was only for money...
There is no way I would buy Enigma over Megabass

I imagine AMart is the only reason they've sold any Enigma rods at all, so he's earnt his sponsorship. The company needs to take a long hard look at what they're doing as I seriously doubt they would sell many rods on their own merits, even if that is only because of the paint jobs.

Skeet Reese has made an absolute fortune off the W&M rods, so I'm sure A-Mart thought he could too.
Other than the "pro staff" discount folks, I don't know anyone who owns the Enigmas.

I actually own 2 of the phenom rods and they aren’t bad at all. Granted, I got them for $60 as opposed to the $100 they go for. I can only assume they count each big batch they get from China is a new generation.

Reminds me of when the Citrus Sticks came and went. I still can't believe people bought those things.
