Are these Cranking rods similar? (Dobyns & St. Croix)

Post by webertime » Wed Feb 22, 2017 1:27 am

How similar (if at all) is a Dobyns 705cb (non glass) and a St. Croix 70MHM (non glass)? I've got the St Croix and want to get a bit lighter cranking rod and just want to make sure I'm not duplicating rods.
thanks all!

I've owned both of those models, and the power & action are VERY VERY similiar! I don't own either one now.
If you like one, you'll like the other just as much!

It's been a while since I fished that St Croix in the Legend Tournament Bass. IIRC it was called the Big Cranker back then. That was at least on generation/update ago.

My memory is that the power is very similar to the Dobyns 705CB. I do feel that the St Croix does have a bit more parabolic action.
