NRX 852C Uses
NRX 852C Uses
So I couldn't help myself when I saw a ridiculous price on a new NRX 852C and picked it up. I already have plenty of other rods to cover pretty much everything I throw (MB Expada and Cliffhanger for light topwater, Super Eiger for most light applications, NRX 893 and Edge 705 for jigs and senkos, MB Destruction for heavier stuff and MB Parry Arc, Simoon, Hedgehog and NRX 802S to cover UL, drop shot and shakeyheads. Anything that the 852C can do that others above can't? Any help would be appreciated; otherwise I may have to return it (Yikes)
Re: NRX 852C Uses
I have mine right between my Super Eiger and NRX 893. I throw tubes, flukes, Keitech Fat impacts, and light Texas rigs on mine although I think you could throw small spinnerbaits and jerkbaits with no problem. It's a fun rod and has a little more muscle than you would think.

1/8 - 3/16 shaky heads, small senko, silver buddy - paired it up with an aldebaran hg - amazingly light.
Re: NRX 852C Uses
Ive only had mine for a short time. But so far I've been using it for 1/4 oz jigs, 5" senkos, and jerk baits (pointer 78 deep diver and staysee 90). From my short experience its pretty versatile. For the time being its being paired with an Aldebaran

I have mine paired with an alphas sv and use it for weightless senkos, wacky rigs, ned rigs, grubs and tubes.

I am curious about your reel and line, and rigging method when using it for tubes, flukes, Fat Impacts....njbasscat wrote:I have mine right between my Super Eiger and NRX 893. Could 4 and 5-inch Senkos could also be used?
Thanks.

I don't get to fish tubes for smallmouth much, but i was amazed of the way that rod transfers the slightest tick through the zaion knobs when I had it paired with a is73c viola.

I currently have a Steez 103 with a SV 105 spool on the rod. I'm using 10lb Sniper. I fish coffee tubes with a 1/8oz jig head, 3" BPS tubes Texas rigged with a 2/0 gama EWG hook and 1/8 oz to 3/16 tungsten weight. For flukes, I use a 5/0 gama EWG hook and fish them weightless. I rig the Fat Impacts on a 1/4oz jig head with a screw lock. It works well for 4" Senkos. I rig them on a 3/0 gama EWG. I have fished 5" Senkos on it but like the 893 much more for those.BlaineFred wrote:I am curious about your reel and line, and rigging method when using it for tubes, flukes, Fat Impacts....njbasscat wrote:I have mine right between my Super Eiger and NRX 893. ^Ditto. Such a comfortable set up to fish. The steez reel on the NRX changed my entire opinion on how the ergo felt and I use the 852 for all the techniques you have listed and additionally it is a great finesse jig/hair jig rod.
