Daiwa Tatula rods (black and gold)

Do the Tatula rods (not the new ones but the black and gold rods) have a locking nut that will scratch the reel seat of a reel?  Is it all aluminum or does it have a plastic/rubber insert to avoid damaging the reel?  Thanks!

I'm pretty sure it's just a aluminum nut. Don't have mine in front of me at the moment.

It is either polished really well or has a plastic insert because I've never had any of them scratch any reel. I have 7 different models.

I'm nearly 100% certain that it has a plastic insert, no scratches on any of my reel feet from either rod I own.

I've got a few and no scratches in Magnesium, Aluminum or "Composite" footed reels.

How do the models compare and what would you use (application wise) for the following casting models:

7' Medium
7'1" Medium Heavy
7'2" Heavy

What would the best all around rod be of those three for jigs, worms, small cranks/jerkbaits, and spinnerbaits/chatterbaits. Thanks!

If you want to do all that I would look at either the 6101MHFB with 12-15# fluoro or the 711MHRB with 40-50# braid. They're both very versatile. The 610 has a lighter tip, is lighter in power and weight, slightly better balanced, slightly more sensitive, and closer to what most consider a medium heavy. I use mine for t rigs, jika rigs, football jigs, and senkos. The 7'1" is pretty powerful. The tip is fairly heavy, but mod fast, so it loads really well. I use mine with mono for topwaters and spinnerbaits primarily, but I used to use it with braid for jigs no problem before I decided a medium heavy/x fast with fluoro would suit me better. Bear in mind there is also a 7'1" mh/xf (711MHXB) which I would consider ideal with 15-17# fluoro for pitching jigs and heavier t rigs, but wouldn't recommend it for moving bait applications.

The old Tatula has a metal sleeve over a plastic nut. No metal contact the reel foot

Confimed for plastic incert inside the anno'd lock nut. Hard to see but there is a plastic incert on the nut.
