Shimano Loomis Conquest rods

Post by Rodster14 »

I sold my NRX in anticipation of getting one of the new Conquest rods. I know we are at least few weeks away from them hitting the market. Has anyone actually laid hands on one? If so, what were your thoughts?

I was able to put my hands on a 843c at my local tackle shop. I didn’t pull the trigger due to the very high cost. I am waiting on some real world feedback. Has anybody bought one and spent some time on the water with it?

Im loving my 782 and 842 so far. Really like the MBR tapers, will be buying more for sure. Hard for me to describe the differences in hand, but these rods are definitely a step up from NRX.

Does the MBR taper make them more parabolic.. Are these supposed to be moving bait rods?

No, they are a classic "Mag Bass" taper that Loomis has been using for years. The rods are all considered a "fast" taper but they aren't technique specific like many other lines of Loomis rods. They are definitely not intended to be moving bait rods, they are intended to be very versatile rods just like all the "MBR" series in past years.

The Tackle Trap has the 904c, 7'6" Heavy, in stock now, more coming soon and quite a few already on the way to their new owners. I'm looking forward to fishing some of these very soon myself.

Thanks!
I will be picking up the 7' medium heavy, pairing it with a Met DC...sort of a high end do it all combo!

Do you own the 782c? Or sjr? I'm looking for more info on the 782c. What do they weigh?

I wish Loomis would add a little "bling" to their rods. I hate the look of the little cork fore grip. I've always loved their blanks, just not their look.........of course it hasn't exactly stopped me from buying their rods, but I might have a few more if they looked better! :D

And they messed up and let me buy my first Megabass rod, partially because of this. Now Megabass has caught up to Loomis in my arsenal!!!

Fished today with mine. 904c with a Metanium MGL and 15# Tatsu. Caught 16 Spots tonight, biggest around 3. 3/16 shakeyhead with trick worm. Little overkill, got it for t-rig and jigs, but couldn’t resist fishing with it today. Wicked sensitive, can’t wait to go to Chickamauga this weekend!
