Comparable rod to x7 super eiger

Post by poot04 » Fri Aug 18, 2017 5:03 am

Is there a Megabass rod on the market or other company that has similar weight capabilities and taper to the x7 super eiger. Maybe a xxx black Themis or nrx 852. I'm looking for a rod to through weightless plastics, trick worm, Ikas and flukes to name a few.

Not as sensitive, but the 6'10 adrena ml is pretty close.

In the Megabass line, the closest thing you'll find to the X7 Super Eiger, and it's an outstanding rod, is the 2016 JDM Destroyer F3-610X Hein

Thanks bronzefly. As soon as I get some money saved up I will be picking up a few rods from the tackle trap. I really like my xxx chimera that I bought from you as well as the jade Python.

What is the max I can throw on the Hein, can it handle a 5 inch senko?

Sounds great, I'm glad you're enjoying the XXX models!

I've thrown a 5" senko on the Hein in open water situations, wacky rigged and it's been just fine. I wouldn't recommend it fishing around heavy cover however. I've thrown the Vision 110 and several other 1/2 oz hard baits on the Hein with success.

I throw 110s and Pop Max's on my Hein. It handles them very nicely. Love that stick.

I live in the northeast and most cover is rock and scattered weeds non of which I would call heavy cover so I think I will be ok.

Is the Hein capable of sending a light wire hook threw a Texas rigged weightless plastic and still having a good hookup ratio?

I fish light wire finesse t-rigs on mine as well as 1/8 oz shakey heads, it handles them both nicely.

ive never fished the super eiger.

the Hein is an incredibly fun rod to fish. perfect with something light like an Aldebaran. sounds like it would be a good fit your list but you would want a thin hook for that ika. i also wouldnt fish cover with it.

i love it for swim senkos of all sizes and small/med soft plastic jerkbaits. great for finesse if you dont care for a spinning rod.

I had a Kistler KLX MH Finesse Jig / Worm Tube rod that had a very similar power and taper to the Super Eiger. It was also lighter but not as sensative and didn't have nearly the level of "it" as the Super Eiger or high end Megabass rods. The phase III eiger northwall was also similar but also not in production.

I have fished the super eiger once cuz a friend has it and wanted me to try it but
to be honest there is nothing better than my Raid Japan bounty killer this is by far the best bait finesse rod i have ever fished.
The solidtip really makes the difference to me and its super sensetive yet powerful enough to fight big fish.
Unfortunately I dont know how it works fishing for bass but back home in germany i used it for perch and it happened several time i caught decent pikes and walleyes on it and it never let me down. So if had to decide what rinesse rod i should buy i'ld go with the raid japan over and over again paired with a steez 103 hl and a Megabass Honeycomb spool. That combo sure is a beast. If you are looking for something lighter I ld recommend the Raid Japan light feelips which is also a killer rod.
