Tatula elite 6'9 heavy
Tatula elite 6'9 heavy
Anyone have the Montgomery 6'9 skipping rod? Would you throw 1.25oz payloads on it? Looking for a mid range SW jig rod, under 7 ft. any input appreciated!

Re: Tatula elite 6'9 heavy
I did not have the 6'9", but i did have the longer 7'1" H version, and i wouldnt throw anything above 1oz on it. I actually sold it as i was planning on using it for my 1/2oz jigs and i felt it was overpowered by that personally. I dont have any recommendations as all my rods are 7'3" or longer, but I would say spend your money elsewhere to be able to throw something that size. I will say i love all my other tat elite rods, i have 13 of them between spinning and casting, but that 7'1" was disappointing for me.

That's crazy, a rod rated to 1.5oz overpowered by 1/2oz jigs...thank you for the feedback!kstephes033 wrote:I actually sold it as i was planning on using it for my 1/2oz jigs and i felt it was overpowered by that personally.
I'm tossing 3/4 - 1oz jigs on my expride 6'8 MH, no issues. I wish the expride came in a heavy under 7', but no...

I have the 7-1 and love it for baits up to 1.5! I don't see why you couldn't use the 6-9 for what you want. You my have better control over the bait up close to targets. This rod will probably my next rod.
