Hi everyone,

Just picked up a Shimano Core casting rod today, 3-5kg & 6'3" in a 1 piece guise with its custom rod tube etc here in Australia - pics on my Instagram https://www.instagram.com/p/BfCashHg7Sr/

Problem is that their isn't one skerric of information about them, any mention to ownership online or forum or existence in any market or in google image's?

Beautifully matches to my Core 100Mg but does anyone know anything about said rod?

Thanks in advance [-o<

Have had the same combo quite a while. Lovely setup. See if i can find the original catalogue, but Im pretty sure they are just a blinged TCurve. Least that is what I was told at the time. Never sold well and were discounted almost from day one.
Found 2009 Shimano Australia catalogue. Not much help tho. Fuji components (custom core fittings) but thats about all. In hand i cant really tell the difference between Core, TCurve or TCurve Flight.

I want to see more pics! That looks snazzy though!

I had my Core 50 on a 6'10 Cumulus and a Gen 1 Cumara 7'2 Med. It is now on a custom build but the Core rod series sounds intriguing!

At around this time Ian Miller was using, in his words, "a GL3 like material", so potentially the blank is of this nature.

Blank has 'Biofibre' and when you look that up and the "technical" speil its yeh a little hard to believe.

The Core technology has been used and explained in detail in it's use in the high end G Loomis fly rods, coming to the bass and other rods soon I bet. Bring a XL wallet. Nothing really new here that I see, the aviation industry has used this for many years, not surprising our grahites come from the aviation industry.

Hi slazmo
The Shimano Core baitcaster was promoted as the cousin of their top end FIREBLOOD rods.
I’ve had the Core 6’1” 6-10kg baitcaster for 12 years. Top rod.
I have 3 Daiwa Steez rods and the Core is not totally out of place standing beside them.

Can someone post up some pictures of the Core rod? I have never heard of them before, would love to see what they look like. :)

The Core and Fireblood rods are mirror identical for other than namen and colour, both beautiful rods and the Fireblood rods were brought into Australia en mass in comparison to the Core's it seems - I'm just happy that I've got the rod to match the reel both in great condition to match, not that I'm ever going to use it...

I put a link to IG for the pictures above, however limited to the quality and size of the pictures that show the whole rod.
