Dobyns 705cb or loomis imx pro 845cbr

As title says, looking at these 2 7’ crankbait Rods. I don’t do a ton of cranking but looking to get a dedicated rod as last year I lost a bunch. Will be throwing lipless rattle traps, shallow diving, generally 9’ and less, squarebill. And hoping to double down this rod for some top water minus frogs. What’s the opinion. Most likely be paired with a diawa tatula sv tw 6.3

I throw the older DeepFlex model of the 845CBR and it is amazing for all treble baits. I've thrown Traps, Topwater, Squarebills, and smaller running tradition cranks on it and it excelled at all of them.

I have the 704CB for jerkbaits and the 706CB for deep cranks/big jerkbaits/big topwater/small swimbaits. I've thought about getting the 705CB to complete the set. I'm sure the 705CB would be good for topwater as well.

I think the Dobyns 705CB is supposed to be a modern take on the 845CBR. I've never fished the Loomis 845CBR but you probably can't go wrong either way. The Dobyns rods are some of the better balanced rods I own.

I think it may come down to personal preference. I have 3 Loomis CBR845's, but not the IMX Pro. I don't throw crankbaits very often. I use them for topwater. IMO, they make a great spook jr. rod. I don't like how they fish with a full size spook. The rods really shine when you hook up.

I have an 805CB, but have not really used it much as I got it late last year. It seems to be a tad bit faster than the 845CBR.

Again, I think it may come down to how you fish and what you are looking for.

Thank you everyone. I’m not much on crankbait fishing myself but over the last 2 years or so I’ve gotten a little more into it and I fish a lot with the old man who likes crankbait fishing. Like mentioned I only throw medium depth at best, squarebill and some lipless. I currently have a loomis e6x spinning rod which I don’t mind, and a Dobyns SIERRA 734C which I like a lot. That’s why I am debating between these two brands.

I had 2 705CB and liked them a lot. Their moderate fast action makes them a very versatile rod. Used them for pretty much any moving bait. For their price level they're had to beat. Sorry no info on IMX for comparison.

I can vouch for that 705cb as well. Great crank rod that's quite versatile.

If you want to open up your options for even more versatility, consider including fast action rods in your search. Having spent alot of time cranking, starting with old glass rods, I actually prefer cranking with fast rods now(except deep cranking).
I find I have a much better hook up/landing ratio with fast rods, especially at long range. Using mono, you can 'slow' the rod action down, or flouro & braid to 'speed it up'(though I generally crank with Sufix flouro these days).
I first got hipped to this a while back when I saw Rick Clunn's boat deck was full of identical 7' mh/fast rods.

Thank you everyone for the response, little delayed on my part but been crazy busy then an unexpected surgery slowed me up a little. Either way I did some shopping and couldn’t get my hands on a champion 705cb graphite just there glass and it felt a little heavy. I ended up getting a Daiwa zillion 7’2” crankbait rod just due to the fact it was a wicked deal but it turns out after purchasing it it just doesn’t feel like a crankbait rod, it’s super fast. So I ended up picking up the imx pro 845c crb as well and so far it feels great. Got to throw a reel on it still but I’m really excited about this one!! Can’t wait to try it out. Not sure what to do with the zillion now
