Conquest 842s

Post by BRONZEBACK32 » Wed Nov 28, 2018 2:29 pm

Hello, I was wondering if anyone has the 842s spinning rod and what they think about it.

I have a GLX 842c and love this blank, so how does it compare?

Thanks.

I have one and I love it. I also have had IMX Pro’s, GLX, and NRX. The Conquest is lighter and stronger than any of the others. Sensitivity is about the same as an NRX. In my opinion, you can do pretty much anything you would want to with a spinnng rod with the 842s (except drop shot).

I might be in the market for one of these as a possible all around spinning rod. What about the rod makes you say you wouldn't want to use it for drop shotting?

You could, but I use a dedicated drop shot rod (NRX 822DSR) that has a tip more suited to that technique.

It will work fine as a drop shot rod, especially if you DS on the cast as opposed to dropping straight down

Pulled the trigger yesterday, so I'll find out :big grin:

I fish from a kayak so it's about 60/40 casting vs dropping down. I fish other techniques more I was just hoping to be able to use it for DS without issue when I need to, and it sounds like that will be the case.

I just picked up the CNQ842S. I also have the old BSR822s GLX. It is a good DS rod and the cnq is just slightly faster than the BSR. Sp the CNQ should do as a drop shot rod.

Not to hijack the thread.. but those who have used both the CNQ842s and the NRX 852s, how do the actions and versatility compare? Currently I do just about everything with my 852s, from light trig/shakey head to dropshots..

i have mos of the two power nrx and conquests, CQ842S, NRX852S, NRX872S and CQ902S. The 842S is more versatile than the 852S as the action is a tad slower and i find more backbone.
