Ohh! Definitely can’t go wrong with Dobyns. I landed 10 stripers on one of the Sierra models, can’t remeber which one but definitely had a soft enough tip to keep the LC jerkbait pin I the stripers.

I've got the IMX 812c jbr, the model that preceded the IMX Pros. It works great. Nice short handle that doesn't get in the way when working the bait. It's rated up to 3/8oz but I can still throw 110s with a flick of the wrist or roll cast. With a fish on it loads nearly to the handle but has a nice tip for working the bait. I find it to have poor recovery on harder rips but that's my opinion. I actually use it a lot for squarebills and the whopper plopper 90 on a river for smallmouth.

Just picked up a 2018 Poison Adrena 6'6 ml that will also have jerkbait duty come next spring. It feels like a medium powered Loomis but I have yet to fish with it.

Someone mentioned the NRX 843 on the last page for jerkbaits. IMO that rod is too stiff unless you're using heavier gauge hooks. I like mine for 3/8th spinnerbaits.

I got one this year. Rating is 3/8 but handles 1/2-5/8oz just fine. Not as light as the Adrena or Expride i use usually but the shorter handle is nice for hard jerking. My all around favorite is still the Expride 6'10M.

Yes, 6'5" is perfect. I'm 6' tall and using that length is just effortless. Mine has a standard length handle, though.

It is my go-to jerkbait stick. It was actually a 7'MH fast blank with 7" cut off the butt end. Perfect action for casting, working the bait with enough tip and softening up so the trebles do not pull out. Perfect for giant dog-x too. :big grin:

I always wanted to try that rod. I never even laid hands on one. It's one of the few 1st gen Tatulas I don't have.

I posted earlier on this thread that I had just got a Steez Fle-X-Lite 6’ 5” ML, I had not fished it at that time. I had the opportunity today and it was awesome. It was 36 degrees out with 39 degree water temps and I landed on a mega school of wintering fish. Best day of jerkbait fishing ever for numbers. God I love to jerkbait fish. Nothing over 3-05 but at least 20+ in that low 3 range with another dozen in the 2’s. I had 12 rods with me but only used the Steez with a Vision 110 in the 3hrs I fished. That rod protected those Katsuage hooks perfectly and kept every fished buttoned up. I had one bent tine after all those fish. At only 3.3ozs it was a blast to throw. I used a curado 70 but an Aldebaran 50mgl would be an 8.8oz rig made in heaven. I got this rod for 163.00 and American Legacy just auctioned one off for 150 shipped...if you like to throw Visions, you have to try this rod. Especially if you don’t like your jerkbait rods over 6-6. Also check the TT review, it was an Ultimate Enthusiast winner.

How long ago did you get the rod from ALF?

It was ALF’s auction from their trade in program. They have items posted and ending every Sunday night. The one I got was the same situation from The Hook up Tackle about 3 weeks ago. I’ve also recently seen one for sale on the BBC board

Maybe not everyone's ideal, but I pulled out the megabass P3 Elseil to do work with a jerkbait this weekend. Trying some vision 110 Rs I received under the tree. First time for me with this variant of the 110. I got back to FL yesterday and to my surprise I was unable to scare up a bite with anything until I pulled these 110 Rs out of their packages. As far as the type R, obviously they work. Cast like a dream. I believe it's even easier to bomb than the original. But, significantly more subdued action. Not sure if I like the tradeoff. Obviously, I won't complain since nothing else has worked in the past 24 hours since I've been able to wet a line.
