It was 36 degrees out with 39 degree water temps and I landed on a mega school of wintering fish. Best day of jerkbait fishing ever for numbers. God I love to jerkbait fish. Nothing over 3-05 but at least 20+ in that low 3 range with another dozen in the 2’s. I had 12 rods with me but only used the Steez with a Vision 110 in the 3hrs I fished. That rod protected those Katsuage hooks perfectly and kept every fished buttoned up. I had one bent tine after all those fish. At only 3.3ozs it was a blast to throw. I used a curado 70 but an Aldebaran 50mgl would be an 8.8oz rig made in heaven. I got this rod for 163.00 and American Legacy just auctioned one off for 150 shipped...if you like to throw Visions, you have to try this rod. Especially if you don’t like your jerkbait rods over 6-6. Also check the TT review, it was an Ultimate Enthusiast winner.
How long ago did you get the rod from ALF?
Here’s one new with tags still in the wrapper

When using baitcating, I use a pair of the cheapest priced rods I own! Lol
A pair of 13 Fishing Defy Black 6'7" MH rods. They have a somewhat moderate action, and fish jerkbaits well!

GLX 842 is handling my jerk bait duties at the moment. Still researching rods to see what would be better.

Was using a Megabass Orochi X4 Oneten Stick, but switched to an Orochi XX Flatside and like the length better for casting.

Megabass Orochi Double X Flat Side Special Gen 1. Works well for 110's and Pointer 100's.

I'm 6'5" and use a 6'6" Witch Doctor Shaman. The whole point of using a shorter rod for jerkbaits is to get more movement from the bait. I could use a 7'6" rod if I wanted to but it wouldn't impart as much movement to the bait.

Currently using an Orochi Jerkbait Special. It's been well this past fall, winter, and coming spring. Long enough for casts, nice fast tip, but a nice parabolic bend as well. It doesn't feel sloppy soft. I'm going to try out the Expride 6'10 M as well. Hopefully soon.

I jumped on the Expride 6'10" Medium bandwagon and that rod really is everything I'd hope to get in a jerkbait rod. That said, I've been throwing the 843 GLX MBR a lot recently for t-rigs, and after reading earlier posts in this thread I'll totally try that for jerkbaits instead of taking a dedicated rod. Probably gonna need to spool a straight fluoro reel for that, though.

Edit: Threw a Vision 110 Jr on the 843 MBR and was impressed. That's quite a finicky bait to work, and it did it well.

I like my Shimano Expride 6'10" medium. It has great casting and action to work medium sized shallow diving jerkbaits. If your throwing vision 110 this is rod for you.

I then get more technical rods for different jerkbait scenarios and applications.

For medium to large sized jerkbaits that dive mid to deep, my go to rod is the Shimano Poison Adrena 611+. This rods handles and fishes jerkbaits that the Expride doesn't. I feel this rod is great for casting accurately too.

I normally fish loomis, shimano, daiwa and other high end rods but decided to try out 13 fishing envy jerk&pop 6'8" medium rod and OMG this is surprisingly the best all around rod from small to large jerkbaits. Its like weight and has the jerkbait rod action you have always desired!

If you want something astounding for jetkbaits and want to try a lesser known rod, you totally have to give the 13 jetkbait rod a try!

I got the new Zodias 6'10" Medium for jerkbaits (mostly the Rerange 110, some Vision 110 and Flash Pointer 100), hoping the taper is similar to the Expride. The handle is fairly short but it's gonna bump me in the arm no matter what. Bass/walleye/pike season opens tomorrow and I am looking forward to throwing jerkbaits possibly all day to catch some big angry footballs! I used my Helium3 6'9" MHXF for this last year and it worked well, though the handle was a bit longer than expected. I will have that rod with me as well and may compare back and forth with the Zodias. I will report back after wetting some lines!
