Medium light spinning rod.

Post by ZJKorman » Mon Feb 25, 2019 4:45 am

Looking for a finesse spinning rod between $200-300. I am looking for a rod to mostly throw 1/16 & 1/8 oz Texas rigged robo worms. As of right now I am deciding on either the 6'10" ml expride, and the megabass orochi whipsnake. I have also put some thought into other rods such as the legend tournament, and avid x etc. If anyone has any suggestions please comment. I find that my avid x medium xfast and dobyns 703 are just a little too stiff. Thanks! :D

I would be looking at a St Croix MLF in the Legend Elite series. You should be able to buy a like new rod for between $275-300.

X2 on the Legend Elite. It's my favorite spinning rod.

I have the 7' Medium Expride and love it!! I thought they had a 7' ML and that would be my pick if you want the ML. I think the medium would work also. great great rods

another vote on the legend elite 7 med light it’s such a great rod one of my favorite rods on the line up. The tip to backbone ratio is spot on with that stick they did a great job there. I had the whip snake as well and also a great stick less backbone I liked it for open hook presentations like grubs and the small Keitech baits. The staff Croix med is too powerful for what your looking for imo. The Expride 7 m falls between the St Croix med light and the St Croix medium in terms of power.

take a look at the st croix 6'10" mlxf, its not as stiff as the mxf and makes a good all around spinning rod, i have 2 of that model in the legend elite and they are fantastic.

or try the Avid X 6'9" MLXF. I own 2, paired with Stradic CI4+3000 reels, and love them!
the 6'9" MLXF in the Avid X model is not as stiff as the 6'8" MXF model. I owned the 6'8"MXF Avid X and sold it because
it was too stiff for finesse stuff.

I have a Kistler Helium 3, 7' ML that I really enjoy fishing with. The NFC blank is a beautiful and sensitive piece of graphite. Probably get one for a little over $200 right now.
