I have been searching for a really great 1/2oz no trailer spinnerbait and 3/8 with trailer bladed jig rod. G-loomis or Megabass are my preferred rod makers. I would like to be able to at least somewhat feel the blades turning on the retrieve for both the spinnerbait and bladed jig. Max rod length around 7'3". Max budget 500.00. Minimum rod length around 6'3". I do have a new nrx 804jwr that I have not used yet. Has anyone used this rod for bladed baits? I really appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

The XX spinnerbait special is a great rod. Not sure if that model carried over to the 2nd gen rods, though.

I'll 2nd the Spinnerbait Special, great option if you can find one in good condition. I use mine for exactly the applications you described, but it is a super versatile rod that can handle everything from squarebills to jigs in a pinch. It was dropped from the 2nd gen lineup which is a bummer.

From the current XX/Levante lineup I would think the DSR is your best bet, but the only 2nd Gen rod I have is the Aklys. There may also be some great JDM XXX/Levante options under 7'0" if that's what you'd prefer. I'm sure somebody with more hands on experience will be along shortly!

Glx 843mbr correct?How does it fish? How's the sensitivity? Can you tell if there is an issue with the blades during the retrieve? Thanks

I'd consider the Megabass Diablo Spec R or possibly the Daemos

The Orochi XX Diablo Spec R is tough to beat.

I checked out some reviews on the XX Spec R. Guys have bought multiples of that rod for spinnerbaits and such. Thanks for heads up. Sounds like that's the rod I'm looking for. Much appreciated

i actually owned the spinnerbait special and diablo spec r. i now use the glx 843c mbr. the rod sensitivity is nicer than xx and i like the tip more.

I'd suggest the JDM Megabass Valkyrie 71MH while you can still get one. It's an excellent spinner bait chatter bait type rod and with additional versatility and the JDM Megabass allure. I've been a fan of this particular model since I first got my hands on it. I'd be glad to help out if you are interested.

The discontinued Megabass Black Jungle Deep Crank Slow Roll or Gen 1 XX Spinner Bait special are both fantastic rods should you be able to source one on the used (no warranty) market.

Out of the current USDM production models, I really like the US Destroyer Daemos here. The XX or Levante versions of the Diablo Spec R will certainly get the job done should you not go with Valkyrie or US Destroyer.

Which of these two reels suit the Daemos better?
1. Steez SV TW
2. Steez A TW

To be used for smaller jigs (3/8 oz and under), swim jigs, t-rigged senkos, chatterbaits, and spinnerbaits. Which reel balances better?

Megabass flat side. Have one for 1/2oz spinnerbaits and one for 3/8oz bladed jigs. Works like a charm for both
