if you are using that beast hook i would look at the megabass bunker buster, or the shimano expride 7'3 x hvy. i really dont like using the pool cue rods but for that freestyle with that shark gauge hook owner uses on the beast hook you are better off with more power. Ill say this i really liked the expride 7,6 hvy and 7'2 hvy a lot for throwing the freestyle but if they hit far away from you its hard to get a hook set.

Caught a 5.3 largie on the 7’3mh Adrena this wkend. Rod was purchased for spinnerbaits/chatterbaits but I’ve been having great success fishin 1/4 & 5/16 t-rigs on it. It’s not as powerful as the Nrx 873 that I normally used, but I like it a lot more. It’s just a FUN “versatile” rod. I read somewhere that someone said sensitivity is right up there wit the nrx, and the more I fish bottom contact baits on this rod, the more I agree. This lineup needs a lot more models, eventually I see a price increase in these rods. I got this rod at TW for 20% off but it’s well worth retail & the nrx not so much. I’m pretty close to selling my nrx 873 & use funds to purchase the 7’4H

Glad you like the rod Hennessy. It’s my favorite lineup in a long time. Only thing that I have a complaint about is when the handle is wet it’s gets slick, but I can live with that.

i agree with he feel i keep fishing the 7'2 medium to test its abilities. I got this model for an all around reaction rod but yesterday i fished shakey heads on it for a good part of the day and you can really tell bottom composition with it so well. Thought i would never say this but it was even if dare i say not better than some of my nrx rods.

I think I'm about to pull the trigger on the 7'2" Heavy. From what I read, it seems like it's a little more powerful than an NRX 873? Would it be like a shorter 894? Thanks.

hey reason 162 i actually like it for jerkbaits ive thrown a vision 110 on it which is 1/2 but i feel like it could handle the 5/8 ok as well. i did throw the shower blow 105 with it and it was great it goes 9/16 oz which is a tad under 5/8. its rated to 3/4 but i personally would not throw 3/4 with it.

Thank you! I've read through the entire thread more than once but it is easy to get lost!!
I handled a few models at my local tackle store and they look and feel great. Definitely want to try out a couple of them, and I need a good spinning rod for shakey heads.
