842 Conquest and 852 NRX would be my choice for versatility.

I use my 842 Conquest mostly for small jerkbaits, I use a Orochi XX whipsnake for drop shot and a Destroyer Flyssa for Ned rigs.

852c NRX I use for tube jigs and keitch fat impact.

I have both the Conquest 842s and 842c. LOVE both of these. Use the spinning for weightless senkos, Ned rigs and will, but don’t like it, drop shot. The casting is used for jerkbaits, tubes, light Texas rigs and small crank baits.

The 842s has slightly more power than an NRX 822 syr. Given the NRX 822 dsr is even softer, you might think the Conquest is too stout...although I make it work. You could look at the Conquest 782 as both spinning an casting are very whippy, and may be more suited towards drop shot, if you think the 6’ 6” is long enough.

How does the Conquest 842S compare to the NRX852S?

Slower. I don’t like the 852s or c. They’re XF action makes the rest of the rod a broom handle, imo

That’s too bad, I was hoping it was stouter and faster! Just goes to show rods are a personal preference a lot of the time. 852S is about as soft as I like to go.

I love my NRX 852c, I don't think its to stiff at all, its one hell of a tube jig rod for smallies.

I wish there was a Conquest 841s, that would be amazing....

Does the 803c fall into the category of finesse rod ?

The 802 could be termed a finesse stick, but the 803 has a good strong backbone. It may be ok for "power finesse", i.e. 1/4 oz and up.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

Thanks, I like the rod esp with the ss sv reel, I have a GLX but I'm sure more expensive rods bring more to the table

Same here sir. Never cared whatsoever for the 852s (all I fish are smallies). 872s different story in my hands dragging smaller tubes. Anyone here actually fished a 782s Conquest ? Curious of your take if so. Thanks. Sorry to derail gents.
