Re: Nrx/conquest finesse rod
842 Conquest and 852 NRX would be my choice for versatility.
I use my 842 Conquest mostly for small jerkbaits, I use a Orochi XX whipsnake for drop shot and a Destroyer Flyssa for Ned rigs.
852c NRX I use for tube jigs and keitch fat impact.

Re: Nrx/conquest finesse rod
Casting or spinning rods?
Re: Nrx/conquest finesse rod
I have both the Conquest 842s and 842c. LOVE both of these. Use the spinning for weightless senkos, Ned rigs and will, but don’t like it, drop shot. The casting is used for jerkbaits, tubes, light Texas rigs and small crank baits.
The 842s has slightly more power than an NRX 822 syr. Given the NRX 822 dsr is even softer, you might think the Conquest is too stout...although I make it work. You could look at the Conquest 782 as both spinning an casting are very whippy, and may be more suited towards drop shot, if you think the 6’ 6” is long enough.

How does the Conquest 842S compare to the NRX852S?
Re: Nrx/conquest finesse rod
Slower. I don’t like the 852s or c. They’re XF action makes the rest of the rod a broom handle, imo

Re: Nrx/conquest finesse rod
That’s too bad, I was hoping it was stouter and faster! Just goes to show rods are a personal preference a lot of the time. 852S is about as soft as I like to go.

I love my NRX 852c, I don't think its to stiff at all, its one hell of a tube jig rod for smallies.
I wish there was a Conquest 841s, that would be amazing....

Does the 803c fall into the category of finesse rod ?

Re: Nrx/conquest finesse rod
The 802 could be termed a finesse stick, but the 803 has a good strong backbone. It may be ok for "power finesse", i.e. 1/4 oz and up.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.
Re: Nrx/conquest finesse rod
Thanks, I like the rod esp with the ss sv reel, I have a GLX but I'm sure more expensive rods bring more to the tablehoohoorjoo wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2019 9:26 amThe 802 could be termed a finesse stick, but the 803 has a good strong backbone. It may be ok for "power finesse", i.e. 1/4 oz and up.

Same here sir. Never cared whatsoever for the 852s (all I fish are smallies). 872s different story in my hands dragging smaller tubes. Anyone here actually fished a 782s Conquest ? Curious of your take if so. Thanks. Sorry to derail gents.

Bumping this. So you are saying the 822 DSR is softer than the 822 SYR in NRX?Bubbleboy wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2019 9:11 amI have both the Conquest 842s and 842c. LOVE both of these. I got my first NRX's Friday and am blown away!! The 822 DSR weighs 3.35oz; I truly cannot believe that.
I also got the 802S which weighs 3.6 oz and is a little stiffer than I had hoped for.
Thinking the 822 SYR would be softer than the 822 DSR as it is rated for less.
Please confirm anyone that has handled both which is the softer/lighter action rod.
Thanks.

Re: Nrx/conquest finesse rod
I can highly recommend the NRX 852c as well. I have mine paired with a Steez CT SV and it this combo can throw down to 1/16oz! You will not cast far or very accurate with this combo with a 1/16oz lure, but if you get into the 1/8oz range, this combo will shine!!!

Re: Nrx/conquest finesse rod
NRX spinning I prefer the 872s, but the 852 is a great rod too. Casting the 852c is a great rod. I don't have a Conquest that is for finesse.
Regarding the DSR vs SYR. I have a DSR and I have fished the SYR a little (I don't own one) and I believe the DSR has a softer tip if I remember the SYR correctly. I love the DSR for drop shot but I wouldn't use it for too many applications (maybe light wacky in open water). I think the lure rating is a bit misleading because the DSR is a drop shot rod, I think they adjust the rating accordingly, but someone with more experience would have better insight on the differences.
