One Nice All-Purpose Spinning rod
One Nice All-Purpose Spinning rod
I'm looking for one high-end spinning rod to handle all of my finesse work. It will be mainly for ned rigs, but I would also like it to handle other finesse tactics such as wacky rig, tube, potentially spybaits and smaller jerkbaits/poppers. Right now, the candidates are
-Destroyer Addermine
-GLX 842SJR
-Conquest 842SJR
-Expride 7M
-Orochi XX shakey head
What do you guys think? The conquest would probably be too much, so right now I am thinking Addermine or GLX. I have 3 other Exprides, so I do want to try something different. I will probably Put the new Stradic 2500/3000FL on it. Any other suggestions? I am looking for something high end enough that I won't feel the need to upgrade.

I would go with the Conquest 842 then the GLX 842 but the 842 in general is my favorite blank...

The conquest 842S is an amazing rod. Go with that.
Re: One Nice All-Purpose Spinning rod
Yea thats what I was thinking, since there will never be a need to upgrade in that case. I don't know if I can afford to drop a stella on the conquest just yet, but the new stradic is very nice according to The early reviews on youtube. Eventually, it will probbaly get a stella though.
Re: One Nice All-Purpose Spinning rod
All this talk about the 842 is making me want one lol. So far I really really like my 852s nrx. Not designed to be all purpose but so far haven’t found anything I don’t like throwing on it. Would love to grab a longer conquest like a 902s or a used nrx 902s if I stumble across one
Re: One Nice All-Purpose Spinning rod
Personally I am starting to shy away from rods much longer the 7', due to their inherent balance issues. I'm guessing that 852S is tip heavy?Matt_3479 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2019 6:18 pmAll this talk about the 842 is making me want one lol. So far I really really like my 852s nrx. i have most of the conquest and nrx spinning and the nrx852s is a hell of a senko and tube rod. the 902s i use for deep water tubes and swimbaits. the 842s is the most versatile imo.
Re: One Nice All-Purpose Spinning rod
Do you have conquests in casting? 842s/Stella plus 843C/Met, and almost all bottom contact is taken care of, for my purposes anyway. I think they are going to release a new Met next year.cndbasshunter wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2019 7:22 pmno its not at all.russ57 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2019 7:07 pmPersonally I am starting to shy away from rods much longer the 7', due to their inherent balance issues. Just throw the new stradic on the conquest, it will be a excellent combo.russ57 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2019 3:22 pmYea thats what I was thinking, since there will never be a need to upgrade in that case. Re: One Nice All-Purpose Spinning rod
I don’t find the 852s tip heavy what so ever! The mbr taper is suppose to be more universal but can’t imagine much better then this 852s! It has excelled at everything I throw, but obviously it does really shine with senko’s, tubes, 2.8 keitechs, shakey heads and stuffruss57 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2019 7:07 pmPersonally I am starting to shy away from rods much longer the 7', due to their inherent balance issues.
