The Gold Standard Casting

Post by goldrod » Tue Dec 03, 2019 7:34 am

I was under the impression that a 7’0” casting rod rated at 6-12 line and 1/8-1/2oz was the gold standard in casting rods for dropshot fishing but some rods have little back bone and what I thought I would look for is a rod slightly more robust and nothing of a noodle yet good enough to dropshot 8lb test and plenty sensitive. What rod would you suggest ? Rod has to double as a t-rig rod Is the only caveat.

Additionally I’ve been thinking about a custom approach to this.
But on what blank? Thanks

Since you like that HM black widow why don't you give the x-ray blank silver widow a shot? They have a drop shot specific one but it may be a bit soft for what you are after. The 733 MBR may be a better fit.

NRX 852? Considered benchmark in sensitivity and all the backbone you could ask for

MAYBE your right. I certainly like the widow and that’s no lie.
The hien has been in the topic of many conversations but just took a megabreak from megabass.

I love my 803glx newest version that I have and the nrx852 does seem rather interesting. I’m betwix and between with the Steez med/hvy heavy rod that is soon to come out. Heck to be honest I’ve broken down and order another rod rack. Which I said I would not do under any circumstances.
