I've used Dobyns Fury and Sierra rods that have quite a moderate action that is called fast by Dobyns, fast Loomis rods, and ex fast G Loomis and St Croix rods.
I find they all work pretty well. I tend to enjoy the G Loomis MBR and slightly faster JWR tapers the most for jig and T rigs.
Over all, what type of taper you use is a personal preference. All rod companies are different to add to any decision making confusion. For me I stay in the Medium Heavy range mostly, but I have two heavy set ups when needed. The heavy combos double as frog and glide bait rods, and can be used as jig rods if I find I need some heavy tools at a certain lake.
