Are these loomis models the same blank in the GLX and Conquest lines, respectively

i know the nrx 852s and 852 are the same blank. This doesnt mean the conquest blanks and glx blanks are the same but i would think so.

So it has a softer tip and flexes deeper into the blank?

I have the 842S in the newest GLX and the 842S in a conquest. I love them both but the conquest rods have more power and can handle a larger bait if compared to a GLX or NRX.

Good to know, did not realize that the conquest line was more powerful. Any idea how the 842 compares in spinning versus casting, within the same line? So the Conquest 842S vs Conquest 842C , or GLX 842S vs GLX 842C

I do not unfortunately. I have conquest, nrx, glx, e6x but never had the same models in casting vs. spinning.

Congrats on the collection lol. What are your favorite specific Loomis models? Which line of rods is your favorite as a whole?

I’ve both the Conquest 842 casting and spinning. I find the casting has slightly more power .25 —> .5

I kind of skip all over with models but I really like the 842S GLX for all purpose. I ike nrx too but never been a fan of XF action rods. I did grab a NRX 901S but have not fished it yet. I really like the grip on the glx and conquest spinners as well. Very comfortable.

What do you throw in the 842C? I think I am going to end up with an 843C this year. I want to use it as my primary bottom contact rod, mostly for 1/4 ounce Texas rigs, but also 5” senko and some 3/8 plus trailer jigs. For a purely senko rod the 842C would probably be better though.

I use the 842c for quite a few things. 1/4oz t-rigs like you, tubes, small cranks and jerkbaits. I hate a Conquest 843c and it is significantly heavier than the 842c. I use my Conquest 842s for weightless senkos and nedrigs

If you like the MBR action, try and find an NRX 843c. In terms of increasing power, for me at least, I found it to be;
Conquest 842s —> NRX 842c mbr —> Conquest 842c —> NRX 843c mbr —> Conquest 843c
Toronto, Ont.

Found a shop near me that has NRX. Not gonna have that discontinued model but super excited to finally handle some top end rods in person tonight. Will have to look on eBay and such for that 843NRX

Handled a variety of NRX. In short, was quite unimpressed by the balance of the 3 and 4 powers. I quite liked the spinning rods though.

I was able to handle an 842C IMX-PRO and an 843C E6X. The 842 has a much softer tip, and I am thinking I want to snag that rod in either the GLX or conquest version. How do the tips on the rods compare? I know the conquest has more power, but does it have a stiffer tip section?

I wasn't impressed with my NRX 822 DSR until I got bit. Bottom contact felt a bit crisper than cheaper rods (cheaper == Megabass Orochi and Expride, both in 2-powers), but not significantly so. But that bite detection... :D
