FYI
Not really a dobyns guy, but at $330, and Xtasy is pretty tempting

I have yet to fish it, but I literally just picked up the 755 to do exactly what you are wanting. I almost exclusively throw 1/2oz jigs plus trailer in light to moderate cover and I'm very confident it will be perfect for this. I have been using a 784 HP the past few years for this and it has worked very well, but I always wanted just a little more power. Just from the old press against the floor and couch test at home I can say for sure that the 755 Xtasy has more power than the 784 HP.freelancer27 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 10:37 amHI guys,
thinking of adding the 754 or the 755 to the arsenal with the crazy deals that are going on right now.
I currently have a ZBONE 7'6 MH (1/4-1oz) and a Steez AGS 7'9XH that I use for my bottom contact techniques. The ZBONE I use mainly for worming and smaller (up to 3/8oz) Texas rigged plastics while the Steez is used for the heavier (3/4oz -1.5oz) Jigs and pegged plastics.
So, I am looking for something in between. A dedicated jig rod for 1/2oz Jigs that I would use mostly in open water (with some medium cover pitching every now and there, for the heavy stuff I would use the AGS). So, wondering which of the two (754 / 755) would fit my needs best.
Thanks for the feedback.
Cheers,
Seb.

I have the rod paired with a Daiwa Morethan PE TW and it feels great in hand and is well balanced. The combo is much lighter and slightly better balanced then the 784 HP combo I have been using.
Bottom line, I suggest the 755. Either rod will certainly work for your needs, but I prefer slightly more powerful rods and I think the 755 will be great for your needs although I have yet to actually fish mine. Hope that helps a little.
Unfortunately, I can't help you much more at this time. My only other viable comparison is the 784 HP. Also, I live in the Northeast and likely won't fish the 755 for a few more weeks (I'm making an effort to branch out and focus on cranking more this year). However, I can tell you that Dobyns rods are typically overrated so for bottom contact presentations I would almost always go one power heavier.freelancer27 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 7:29 pmCool.Craiger12 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 7:14 pmI have yet to fish it, but I literally just picked up the 755 to do exactly what you are wanting. Since i have the Steez AGS for the heavier stuff (3/4oz and up) I am wondering if the 754 would make more sense. I think I would appreciate if you could post your impression of the rod.
Do you have any other jig/bottom contact rods that you could compare the 755 against?
Thanks.
