Paired with an Aldebaren MGL or Diawa SV reel, could I throw Ned Rigs on this rod?

Absolutely. Just make sure you use the right line as well. A ned rig on a 1/10 oz weight will still have some weight to it. You may need to increase the size of the weight ever so slightly.

FWIW I was throwing a Ned head on a GLX 843C MBR just this week and that worked well. 3/16 Ned head with a 3" Roboworm trailer (which is 3/16oz as well, almost 2x the weight of a comparable Elaztech worm), so it casts a mile with no spool issues (pretty much the same distance I was getting out a lightly t-rigged senko). I was using a Curado 70. I think the 842 with those reels you mention would be perfect. I suggest you pack a couple of different Ned worms for weight adjustments, that way the head itself doesn't have to become huge.

I have the glx 842c and its great for it. Ive used a alde and alphas 105sv Sunline 10lb fc and it throws 1/8oz and the trd crawz great. It has a very soft tip. I dont understand how loomis can rate a 852 for 1/8 oz and have 1/4 oz on the 842

It has a pretty light tip. It's a dream to fish with the Steez CT. I use it for 1/4 oz finesse jigs.

It’s all the Ex Fast taper vs Fast taper.

With XF tapers, the blank almost hinges at the tip and the worst stress is a hard snap cast with the upper end of the design weight. F taper being more gradual, doesn’t “hinge” like the XF does on the cast and distributes the load to more of the length of the blank on a hard snap cast at the upper end of the design weight range.

That all being said, Loomis’ XF actions aren’t as hinge-like as other manufacturers. They transition pretty nicely, but also aren’t what I consider to be hardcore XF, either. Especially in the NRX/GLX realm of sticks.

Yup, defiantly one of my favorite rods.
The balance and sensitivity of this rod is hard to beat.
