Zolo Toadface?
Zolo Toadface?
Anyone have it? How do you like it for 1/2 ounce frogs?
Re: Zolo Toadface?
I have an Enox BMJ coming from The Trap, which I believe is similar in action. I will let you know!
Re: Zolo Toadface?
Yea haha I know that forum....they regard people who are into gear as kinda snobby so now I mostly just look at this forum. The sensiticity of the Zolo is poor IMO, it was on the model I have, but for frogs that does not matter.
Re: Zolo Toadface?
Haven't used the toadface, but I like a little longer rod for frogs. I use my 7'4" dragger and it has no issues with a 1/2oz. It's heavier than the toadface, so I imagine it'd work well.

It is easy, they are a sponsor on one and not on the other. They also aren’t super expensive rods so many right them off for that reason.

yeah they are great rods i own a few of them. From my experience they fish very well even though they are a fraction of the cost of some of my other rods. but they arent going to be a steez rd or anything but i mean the price reflects that. The toadface is one of my favorites it just does a lot well personally if you fishing super thick stuff like cal delta or something you might want a stronger rod but for mid vegetation, docks, or overhanging trees the toadface is a great frog rod for sure its easy to walk a frog with that one. talking to alex its pretty much a heavy rod built with a med hvy tip to give it some life. i honestly love it for paddle tails like skinny dippers and the like rigged weedless

Re: Zolo Toadface?
I've fished several of the ZOLO line, including the Toadface. It is a really nice, versatile rod at its price point. It handles frogs and toads very nicely, though I wouldn't consider it an ultra heavy parking lot type grass mat type rod. Most "normal" frog fishing, it does a great job and loads up great for skipping frogs.
Their new 2020 ENOX series uses a Toray 1100T blank. I've fished the BMJ and the LSB quite a bit and they are strong in that low $300's price point. I think they'll get a little more love once a few guys fish them. We have gotten a lot of positive feedback from guys who have used the new ENOX rods, but they're just now starting to get out there...

Finally got a little time with the BMJ. Too cold for a frog but swam a jig and hopped a Texan around. Nice soft tip with some good backbone. Sensitivity is good, seems to be better than my Expride. I think I will like it for frogs; definitely going to try it soon as water warms up. If not frogs, definitely a chatterbait, swim jig, and or lipless rod.

I first seen the new enox at the Richmond VA fishing show and was very impressed. My good friend wanted the best chatterbait rod and took my advice and bought the bmj. Its really a nice build. He, my brother and I (all high end gear junkies) are all very impressed by the looks and how it fished. I am a fan of the zolos also. I just hate the exposed threads with the nut tightened. I had a deputy and dream and regret trading them
