nrz 852c vs st croix elite 7mfc

Post by KSRonH » Fri May 15, 2020 10:13 am

Can anyone who has used both rods make a comparison? I own the st croix rod and use it mainly for tubes, but looking for something with a little more sensitivity and more back bone. I am assuming that the nrx rod will be that but I haven't handled one so a comparison would be appreciated. Thanks

i have both of these rods and while in my hand the nrx 852 is more sensitive the backbone part might go a tad to he st croix that fishes more like a med plus. that being said the 852 will get into the backbone quicker than the st croix does because it is a xfast vs the fast taper. it will give you an impression that the 852 will have more backbone, but the croix seems to have more of the lower end power if you are loaded up on a big fish it just takes longer or more weight to get to it.

The st croix medium falls between the loomis 842 and 843.
