How do they compare? Back in 2001, the GLX 783C was $328 in a very good market. How does blank sensitivity compare to today's rods? Thanks and best wishes on the water!

honestly they still hang in there with today's offerings i feel. they were and still are very sensitive and a great rod to use. they even felt better balanced than all the split grip stuff out today. I suppose if you hated recoils they would get a con but other than that great sticks. i feel like the old glx are more sensitive than the current version as well. They are not a flashy rod if you want that jdm look or graphics all over the rod that could be another con. Also had a great real seat that was super comfy to use.

Glx bcr 803 was pretty badass. Wish I still had it

I own 10 of the GLX’s bought from 03 to 06, including 3 of the Bronzeback glx 822S. They are my favorite rods of all time. I love the old-school Fuji real seats, I've never found another rod line that is more balanced and comfortable. The MBR 843C and 844C rod actions are perfect and to this day I have never broken one. I am very careful with my equipment. With all the marketing and hype in fishing today most rods when compared to my old GLX rods are just hype.

eg. you can get 7'5, 7'6 and even the new IMX Pro has a 7'7 jwr rod

back then 7 foot was as long as they came.

I have a pair of old Wieble-seat GLX rods, a 782 and a 723. I love them to death and even went so far as to have the guide train replaced on the 782 to lighten up the blank. To me they still hang with the modern GLX/Destroyer/PA rods.

Not true at all. Many of the older recoil GLX Rods were made in 7’3 a s 7’5 sized models as well as the 7 foot and under sized rods. The classic BCR 893 GLX was around before the 893 NRX that everyone loves.

That's true. I also used to have a GLX 905 flipping rod but I sold it.

i still use my glx bcr 803 all the time. mostly 1/4 jigs and plastic. im in the minority for sure but i love the recoil guides.
the glx mbr 783 is used sometimes, mostly roll casting spinnerbaits to timber.
i throw small paddletails on swimbait jigheads on the 842 occasionally.
the others get let use but i cant seem to sell them. my other rods are megabass, nrx and a few legends.

Man, you almost have the full set I think. Before 'rona I has started to build up a collection of them myself. I had been looking for a 802 or 803 bcr but the prices on used ones were still pretty high, which of course made me want one all the more.

The 843 and 844 glx's been in my rotation for over 10 years. I feel they're just as good as today's rods and imo better than the newer glx's. I've had just about every variation from the older Wiebe reel seat ones to the newest version.

Sensitivity wise, there are a few rods I feel are better, but I don't feel that I'm missing anything from it tbh. My benchmark for bass rods are still mbr glx's.

but the longer GLX's with the recoils came after the ones mentioned. in the late 90s when I got started I don't believe these were around. not sure when they debuted.

I still use, and adore, my 852 BCR. I have it paired with a TD-Z 103ML, and it is a go-to for me in the spring for t-rigged lizards and tubes.

One of these years I want to chase down a gold PO TD-Z for it...I think that reel would look amazing on a BCR.

I’m thinking about picking up one of the new ones myself. I have a 844 and 843 mbr always wanted to try a 783 but can’t win an eBay auction on one. The older rods in good condition go for more than original retail. The new rods have longer handles I would be target casting spinner chatter and swim jigs thanks
