I know TT did a review on the new Phenix M1’s but does anyone have these new rods and can give a review , I was thinking on getting a M1’s or stepping up to the ultra mbx for 100 more

What will you be using the rod for? Something specific, or general use?

Haven't used the new M1 with the revamped blanks. Subjectively speaking, the umbx kills the old M1 in every way. Umbx blanks are some of the finest available on the builders scene imo. They definitely hang with the big dogs from my experience. It would be my choice for a bottom contact stick, especially with the heavier blanks. The lighter blanks are great for general purpose, but I'd opt for the M1 for medium heavy multi purposes. The blanks are a little slower with a deeper flex.

It's too bad TW doesn't sell the UMBX, it's tough to find that rod online to purchase.

Following this thread, if sensitivity on the revamped M1 lineup is at least on par for the price range I will probably snatch up a 7'8" MH.

Thank you for the heads up, much appreciated! Yea I think that's new since in the past, they only sold accessories on their website, but not rods.

I was out with Vince Borges of Phenix last month and got to fish the MH M1. I didn’t think I would like the new handle but I really liked it. I’m about to order one (they were out of stock for a while).

Iv been eying the m1 6’9 light spinning for a good month now on Phenix’s site that model always says out of stock so I called them to ask when the were going to be in and a nice lady said let me check stock in the warehouse so I was on hold for 5 minutes and she said there’s plenty of stock on that rod so I said can I place the order with you she said no it has to be online so she said let me go to the marketing department so again 5 minutes later she said ok there online refresh the page , I did and bam there was stock so I ordered the rod last Thursday, so why Phenix doesn't update there site is beyond me I guess they feel they don’t need the money lol. I’m sure they miss out on a lot of potential sales if this is the way they operate.

Either way I owned a lot of rod Megabass , exprides ,nrx , ALX , etc and for the money I think Phenix makes one heck of a rod , I have the old m1s, feather and recons , my next rod I definitely want to buy is the mbx series!!

Those UMBX rods are sure interesting. They look very pretty and plenty to choose from.

They are nice too. I have several casting and one spinning UMBX rods.

My favorite Phenix rods, however, are my K2’s. Boy, are they super light, and sensitive!!

So did Phenix update the umbx blanks, or just refresh the build design?

I think just the design but not 100% sure. they used to have umbx (without the burl wood accents) and the umbx classis (with the burl wood). now, it is just umbx --- with the burl wood.
