Looking for a new loomis crankbait rod. I’m getting a little impatient waiting for the 906C CBR to be in stock and I’m willing to try a shorter rod. I mainly throw the Megabass Deep Six about 85% of the time. What shorter loomis rod would you guys recommend? I’ll be pairing the rod with a conquest 200

I have used G loomis CBR rods, but not the IMX Pro. Also, I was using them for topwater. The 845 worked fantastically well for me with spook jrs, but was overpowered IMHO by the full size spook. The 847 worked great for the big spook, but overworked the jr.

Hope that helps in your decision.

847 is the answer (7/8 oz and a long bill is way too much for an 845), HOWEVER, I firmly believe that you will HATE throwing a deep diving crankbait on a 7' rod. You will not get the casting distance you need to get that bait to depth. From one of the biggest Loomis fans on this board (I think I currently own 15 after paring back the fleet), I never got comfortable with any Loomis offering for deep cranking, and I went Dobyns 805CB after trying multiple offerings from Loomis, St. Croix, Shimano, etc.

i have a custom cb847 with split grip and spiral wrapped bought on this board in roughly 2005. Just such a beautiful rod that I have not sold it yet have not fished it in years. bit too short for a deep diver. To me more a big spinnerbait, topwater or chatterfrog rod. Far more accurate then my longer cranking sticks but certainly not as long

I've been waiting for the 906 CBR to add to my collection also.

Right now I'm using a St-Croix LTG MH rod and love it, its just so much fun to use and its very sensitive for
being glass.
