ALX ENOX rods

Post by goldrod » Thu Sep 03, 2020 8:01 pm

just curious to see who has the

LSB
Decoy
BMJ
and Strike Models ?

The LSB kinda seems really like it will be a nice stick but I have no experience with the brand

I have the Decoy, though I haven't used it a ton. Been a fan of ALX a while and had the Zolo Deputy and Dragger custom built by Alex pretty early on, like 4-5 years ago, and they're very good rods. The Enox is a different animal, in my limited experience. The Toray T1100G material is top of the line and they've used it well, if the other tapers are as good as the Decoy.

I've been trying to figure out, is it really toray t1100g they used? because I know on their site it says, "Made in the USA 1100T Carbon Fiber Blanks with Toughskin natural finish."

They do NOT use T1100G, they use T1100T.

The ENOX blanks are very, very nice. They are by far the best made by ALX. I haven't fished the Strike yet, but it is intriguing. I have fished the LSB and BMJ and both are versatile, well made rods.

What's the difference between the T and the G?

I don't have the technical, engineering, material specific answer guys. I do have rods built on 1100G, Steez Racing Design for example. I have only the Enox with 1100T. There is a lot more that goes into a rod than just the blank, and taking nothing away from the Enox because it's a better blank than a whole lot of $300/price point rods out there, but it's not on the same playing field with the RD.

I'm curious as well. I work in aerospace composites and we use Toray materials often. I've only seen T1100G, which is a prepreg, and T1100S, which is a filament. I've seen nothing to indicate that T1100T exists, unless it's proprietary between ALX and Toray.

That would be a good question for Alex over at ALX... they may or may not be willing to share that information, but it wouldn't hurt to ask. Whatever the material in current production ENOX blanks, it is really good stuff, just not T1100G...

No idea what's in it, but the BMJ is a surprisingly sensitive stick. Easily my favorite rod and it's not close.

That definitely puts things into perspective... I've been eyeing the Enox since it's release.

Favorite rod for what?
It's rated 1/4- 1 1/8oz so which Orochi XX are you referring to?
Some people say the BJPV lacks sensitivity for bottom contact stuff, Ive pitched flippin jigs with it and caught bream on a bite

Thanks for the feedback, I've heard some good things about this brand of rods
