NRX 894C/Antares 70 balance?
NRX 894C/Antares 70 balance?
I consistently read about the NRX 894C being tip heavy. It is also often mentioned as the gold standard for jig fishing. I have an Antares 70. Does anyone have that combo? If so, how is the balance?

is the gold standard the 894?
I would think the 893 is far more popular. (unless you are talking 5/8 ounce +)

Both the 893 and the 894 are very top-heavy, but the 894 is worse.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

The 894c is a bit tip heavy. Especially if one keeps telling himself that it is.
If you use a reel that is above 7.5 oz than it is much better. I use a 2019 Morethan and it helped. To have the rod balance perfectly I added a little weight on the butt of the rod.

Even with the heavy antares 70 the 894 will be tip heavy. I have a nrx 843 with the antares and still have to put a but cap on the 843 to get the balance where i like it
Re: NRX 894C/Antares 70 balance?
I had two combos in the garage last night, an XTasy/Metanium B and the NRX 894C/Antares. The Xtasy was better balanced and felt quite a bit lighter (was by about .05). I thought that would be the one I would keep. However, when I actually got out on the water, things changed. I thought the NRX was much more sensitive and I was able to make longer and much more accurate casts with the NRX combo. I forgot all about the balance.
